Senior Fund Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of comprehensive fund operations for a portfolio consisting of intricate funds and vehicles, which includes financial accounting, capital calls and distributions, investor reporting, and cash management.

• Evaluate allocations, capital account statements, capital call and distribution notices, as well as reconciliations prepared by fellow fund accountants.

• Analyze partnership agreements, subscription documents, and side letters.

• Convert economic terms into allocations, waterfalls, carried interest, and calculations for management fees.

• Prepare and review quarterly and annual financial statements along with footnote disclosures.

• Act as the main point of contact during fund audits.

• Collaborate with external banking, legal, audit, and tax service providers.

• Engage with software development teams to define, test, and implement workflow automation and enhancements for efficiency.

• Function as a technical resource and informal mentor for junior team members.

• Lead special projects and initiatives.

• Adhere to and enhance compliance policies and process documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in fund administration catering to private equity and/or venture capital funds.

• Demonstrated skills in operations and project management.

• Extensive knowledge of private markets fund accounting, covering allocations, waterfalls, carried interest, management fees, and relevant reporting requirements.

• Practical experience with a fund accounting platform and the ability to learn new systems confidently.

• Proficiency in reading and applying fund legal documents, such as limited partnership agreements and side letters.

• Experience in a regulated and supervised industry.

• Strong analytical skills encompassing both quantitative and qualitative metrics.

• Excellent oral and written communication abilities, particularly with investors and external auditors.

• Capability and willingness to lead and manage intricate initiatives and tasks, as well as to provide constructive reviews of colleagues’ work.

• Commitment to Allocate’s mission.

• Familiarity with Allvue, Zive, or a similar fund accounting platform.

• Experience transitioning from one fund accounting platform to another.

• CPA certification or experience in public accounting within an alternative investments practice.

• Comfort in using SQL, advanced Excel, or AI-assisted tools to expedite recurring analysis and reporting.
