Senior FullStack Engineer – Real User Monitoring (RUM)

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance fullstack functionalities for Real User Monitoring (RUM), incorporating frontend experiences, backend services, APIs, and storage solutions.

• Design and implement systems for the ingestion, storage, and querying of high-cardinality, high-volume telemetry utilizing columnar and analytical databases.

• Create efficient query layers and APIs for real-time analysis of user sessions, traces, and events.

• Contribute to frontend applications that display RUM data, aiding users in diagnosing performance issues and comprehending user behavior.

• Engage in data modeling, indexing strategies, and query optimization to facilitate low-latency, cost-effective analytics at scale.

• Collaborate with browser and mobile SDK engineers on data ingestion and schema evolution.

• Take ownership of projects from inception to completion, including design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and iterative improvement.

• Decompose complex challenges into manageable tasks and iterate based on feedback received.

• Ensure quality through testing, system observability, documentation, and seamless upgrade procedures.

• Work alongside backend, frontend, product, and solutions engineering teams.

• Assist teammates, engage in technical design discussions, and contribute to the shaping of the RUM roadmap.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of fullstack engineering experience with a solid foundation in frontend technologies.

• Proficiency in frontend development using TypeScript and React.

• Backend development experience; knowledge of Go is preferred.

• Background in building or managing distributed systems in production environments, such as Kafka, WarpStream, Apache Pinot, ClickHouse, Cassandra, or Postgres.

• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, or Azure platforms.

• Experience handling high-throughput, high-cardinality data, including logs, metrics, traces, and events.

• Strong comprehension of data modeling, query optimization, and performance considerations.

• Experience in designing and constructing APIs and distributed services.

• Proven experience in developing data-intensive UIs, dashboards, query tools, or debugging interfaces.

• Understanding of observability principles and/or OpenTelemetry.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a remote, distributed work environment.

• Self-motivated, pragmatic, and capable of managing uncertainty effectively.

• Customer-oriented mindset with a strong passion for enhancing developer experience.

• Bonus: Experience with browser or mobile instrumentation, mobile development, OpenTelemetry contributions, developer-oriented platforms, observability products, session replay, sampling strategies, or user behavior analytics systems.
