Senior Fullstack Engineer, Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop high-scale translation workflows, APIs, user interfaces, and libraries that establish consistent pathways across Airbnb.

• Streamline legacy systems through secure migrations while enhancing reliability, observability, latency, security, and cost-efficiency.

• Create prototypes for applications utilizing machine learning and large language models, transforming validated concepts into robust platform capabilities.

• Collaborate with teams from Globalization, Data Science and ML, product and platform divisions, as well as external vendors to tackle ambiguous customer challenges.

• Assess outcomes related to quality, cost, latency, adoption, developer productivity, and operational workload.

• Construct infrastructure, establish paved pathways for product teams, and facilitate responsible experimentation with machine learning and large language models.

• Assume full ownership of decisions and execution concerning Airbnb's multilingual capabilities and platform health.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of relevant industry experience.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree, ideally in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.

• Proficient programming skills in Java, Kotlin, C++, or a similar backend language.

• Experience in designing, building, and managing distributed systems, APIs, storage and caching systems, event-driven processing, or service-oriented architectures at scale.

• Proven track record of evolving production systems through gradual migrations, testing, observability, and operational ownership.

• Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript.

• Familiarity with React or other modern web technologies.

• Ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries and articulate technical trade-offs effectively.

• A data-informed perspective on system quality, reliability, efficiency, and customer experience.

• Experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools and agents.

• Strong judgment concerning quality and verification.
