This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, develop, and sustain features across Rails API services, TypeScript/Node services, a GraphQL gateway, and React frontends.
• Take ownership of integrations with external platforms, encompassing data mapping, synchronization, reconciliation, retries, and idempotency.
• Create and enhance asynchronous, multi-step workflows utilizing RabbitMQ, SNS/SQS, Sidekiq, and saga-style orchestration.
• Ensure the correctness and security of the multi-tenant platform.
• Lead technical design initiatives through design documents and architecture decision records.
• Identify and mitigate technical debt while enhancing service boundaries, module design, test coverage, and developer experience.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to the establishment of engineering standards.
• Engage in on-call rotation, spearhead incident response, and implement root-cause fixes.
• Utilize and enhance observability tools and CI/CD processes.
• Collaborate with Customer Support & Success on lender-reported escalations and external LOS synchronization challenges.
• Work closely with Product Managers to refine requirements and pinpoint edge cases.
• Partner with UI/UX Designers to deliver refined, accessible interfaces.
• Mentor engineers through pairing, code reviews, and design feedback.
• Lead AI-assisted engineering efforts utilizing Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex.
• Develop and maintain shared AI tools, including agent instruction files, reusable skills and prompts, MCP servers, and automated workflows.
• Set up AI-use guardrails and validate agent outputs.
• 7+ years of experience in building and operating production web applications.
• Extensive experience with Ruby on Rails, including API-only services, ActiveRecord, PostgreSQL, background jobs, and RSpec.
• Proficient in delivering UI with React and TypeScript.
• Familiarity with GraphQL; Apollo is preferable.
• Experience in constructing distributed, event-driven systems.
• Understanding of retries, idempotency, and eventual consistency.
• Knowledge of third-party integrations and partner APIs, including REST, SOAP, and webhooks.
• Strong instincts for security and multi-tenant data isolation.
• Regular use of AI and agentic coding tools at an advanced level.
• Capability to structure context for agents and verify their outputs.
• Proficient in writing design documents and articulating production incidents clearly.
• Responsible for on-call duties, incident response, observability, and conducting blameless postmortems.
• Bonus: experience in mortgage technology or heavily regulated, integration-focused domains.
• Bonus: familiarity with LOS platforms (Encompass, MortgageBot, Byte) or MISMO standards.
• Bonus: experience with Node.js/TypeScript services, Elasticsearch, Redis, Docker, AWS, CI/CD, and saga or workflow orchestration patterns.
