Senior Full Stack Java Engineer – Workforce Management, WFM

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and execute workforce planning, forecasting, scheduling, and optimization functionalities.

• Create microservices for forecasting, staffing computations, schedule creation, shift management, adherence tracking, exceptions handling, and operational reporting.

• Build responsive workforce applications utilizing TypeScript and React.

• Design and utilize REST APIs with an API-first methodology; uphold OpenAPI/Swagger contracts and versioning protocols.

• Implement event-driven workflows for changes in schedules, agent statuses, queue metrics, forecasts, and adherence events.

• Integrate Workforce Management (WFM) capabilities with customer experience platforms, Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) and routing systems, HR systems, payroll, identity services, and enterprise data platforms.

• Model workforce and operational data using PostgreSQL and other relational database systems.

• Containerize services and contribute to cloud-native deployment strategies and configuration management.

• Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines, incorporating Jenkins, automated testing, quality gates, and repeatable deployment processes.

• Troubleshoot production challenges and enhance performance, batch processing, concurrency, scalability, and reliability.

• Engage in code reviews, technical design discussions, architectural conversations, sprint planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Collaborate with Product, Operations Research, QA, DevOps, UX, and other stakeholders to provide effective solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in full-stack software development, with a focus on ownership of production applications.

• Strong comprehension of workforce management principles, including forecasting, staffing, scheduling, adherence, intraday management, shrinkage, occupancy, and service level management.

• Experience with sophisticated business rules engines, optimization logic, scheduling algorithms, or workforce planning workflows.

• Extensive hands-on experience with Java and Spring technologies, particularly Spring Boot, RESTful services, security, and data persistence.

• Solid frontend development expertise with Angular or React, TypeScript, component-based design, state management, and contemporary testing methodologies.

• Familiarity with Node.js for integrations, lightweight services, build tools, or supporting components.

• Experience in integrating WFM with ACD, routing, HR, payroll, CRM, or data warehouse platforms.

• Proven ability to design REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven services within distributed environments.

• Strong SQL proficiency and experience in crafting efficient data models in PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.

• Experience in developing, deploying, or supporting cloud-based and containerized applications.

• Exceptional communication skills, including the capacity to produce clear technical documentation and lead client-facing workshops.

• Preferred experience with AWS services and Amazon Connect.

• Experience in constructing configurable rule engines for labor policies, scheduling constraints, or workforce optimization scenarios is a plus.

• Exposure to workforce forecasting models, simulation techniques, optimization algorithms, or machine learning applications within workforce planning is advantageous.

• Familiarity with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging and event-streaming technologies is desirable.

• Knowledge of Jenkins, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, observability tools, and secure software delivery practices is beneficial.

• Practical experience with AI-assisted software development or AI-enabled solutions, such as Claude or GitHub Copilot, is a bonus.
