
Senior Full Stack Java Engineer – Workforce Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Develop and execute capabilities for workforce planning, forecasting, scheduling, and optimization utilizing Java, Spring Boot, and domain-driven design methodologies.
• Create microservices for forecasting, staffing calculations, schedule generation, shift management, adherence, exceptions, and operational reporting.
• Design responsive workforce applications leveraging TypeScript and React.
• Establish and consume REST APIs using an API-first strategy; uphold OpenAPI/Swagger contracts and versioning protocols.
• Implement event-driven workflows to manage schedule adjustments, agent statuses, queue metrics, forecasts, and adherence events.
• Integrate workforce management functionalities with customer experience platforms, automatic call distributors (ACD), routing systems, human resources systems, payroll, identity services, and enterprise data platforms.
• Model workforce and operational data within PostgreSQL and other relational databases.
• Containerize services and contribute to cloud-native deployment strategies and configuration management.
• Develop and maintain continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, including Jenkins, automated testing, quality gates, and repeatable deployment processes.
• Diagnose production issues and enhance performance, batch processing, concurrency, scalability, and reliability.
• Engage in code reviews, technical design meetings, architecture discussions, sprint planning, and ongoing improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with Product, Operations Research, Quality Assurance, DevOps, User Experience, and other stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions.
• Over 8 years of experience in full-stack software development, including responsibility for production applications.
• In-depth knowledge of workforce management principles, encompassing forecasting, staffing, scheduling, adherence, intraday management, shrinkage, occupancy, and service level management.
• Experience with complex business rule engines, optimization logic, scheduling algorithms, or workflows in workforce planning.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Java and Spring technologies, especially Spring Boot, REST services, security, and data persistence.
• Strong frontend development skills with Angular or React, TypeScript, component-based design, state management, and contemporary testing methodologies.
• Familiarity with Node.js for integrations, lightweight services, build tools, or supporting components.
• Experience integrating workforce management with ACD, routing, HR, payroll, CRM, or data warehouse platforms.
• Proven track record in designing REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven services within distributed environments.
• Strong SQL proficiency and experience in designing effective data models in PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
• Experience in developing, deploying, or supporting applications that are cloud-based and containerized.
• Excellent communication abilities, including the capacity to produce clear technical documentation and lead client-facing workshops.
• Experience with AWS services and Amazon Connect is desirable.
• Practical understanding of workforce management processes or products is preferred.
• Experience creating configurable rule engines for labor policies, scheduling constraints, or workforce optimization scenarios.
• Familiarity with workforce forecasting models, simulation techniques, optimization algorithms, or machine learning applications in workforce planning.
• Experience with real-time operational data processing and event-driven architectures.
• Proficiency with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging and event-streaming technologies.
• Familiarity with Jenkins, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, observability tools, and secure software delivery practices.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted software development or AI-enabled solutions, including tools like Claude or GitHub Copilot, is a bonus.
