Senior Full Stack Java Engineer – Workforce Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Create and execute workforce planning, forecasting, scheduling, and optimization functionalities utilizing Java, Spring Boot, and domain-driven design methodologies.

• Develop microservices dedicated to forecasting, staffing calculations, schedule generation, shift management, adherence, exceptions, and operational reporting.

• Construct responsive workforce applications using TypeScript and React tailored for planners, supervisors, and employees.

• Design and utilize REST APIs following an API-first approach; uphold OpenAPI/Swagger contracts and versioning practices.

• Implement event-driven workflows for schedule alterations, agent statuses, queue metrics, forecasts, and adherence incidents.

• Integrate workforce management capabilities with customer experience platforms, automatic call distributors, routing systems, HR systems, payroll services, identity services, and enterprise data platforms.

• Model workforce and operational data using PostgreSQL and other relational databases.

• Containerize services and contribute to cloud-native deployment strategies, configuration management, and maintaining environment consistency.

• Establish and manage CI/CD pipelines, including Jenkins, automated testing, quality gates, and repeatable deployment methodologies.

• Diagnose production issues and enhance performance, batch processing, concurrency, scalability, and reliability.

• Engage in code reviews, technical design discussions, architectural meetings, sprint planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Collaborate with Product, Operations Research, QA, DevOps, UX, and other stakeholders to provide solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in full-stack software development, with ownership of production applications.

• In-depth knowledge of workforce management principles, including forecasting, staffing, scheduling, adherence, intraday management, shrinkage, occupancy, and service level management.

• Experience with intricate business rules engines, optimization logic, scheduling algorithms, or workforce planning processes.

• Strong practical experience with Java and Spring technologies, especially Spring Boot, REST services, security, and persistence.

• Solid frontend development expertise with Angular or React, TypeScript, component-based design, state management, and contemporary testing practices.

• Familiarity with Node.js for integrations, lightweight services, build tooling, or supporting components.

• Experience integrating workforce management with ACD, routing, HR, payroll, CRM, or data warehouse platforms.

• Demonstrated experience in designing REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven services in distributed systems.

• Strong SQL capabilities and experience creating efficient data models in PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.

• Experience in developing, deploying, or supporting cloud-based and containerized applications.

• Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to produce clear technical documentation and facilitate client-facing workshops.

• Experience with AWS services and Amazon Connect is preferred.

• Experience in building configurable rule engines for labor policies, scheduling constraints, or workforce optimization scenarios is advantageous.

• Exposure to workforce forecasting models, simulation methods, optimization algorithms, or machine learning applications in workforce planning is a plus.

• Experience with real-time operational data processing and event-driven architectures is beneficial.

• Familiarity with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging and event-streaming technologies is a plus.

• Familiarity with Jenkins, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, observability tools, and secure software delivery practices is advantageous.

• Practical experience with AI-assisted software development or AI-enabled solutions, including Claude or GitHub Copilot, is a plus.
