This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Take full ownership of the voice channel from start to finish, encompassing telephony and CPaaS integrations, streaming speech-to-text and text-to-speech pipelines, real-time model orchestration, as well as managing latency and quality budgets.
• Develop product features utilizing React/TypeScript for web chat front ends, alongside Scala and Python for backend services, and leverage GCP infrastructure.
• Create a multi-tenant architecture that caters to various partners through configuration instead of code forks.
• Establish safety and compliance systems, which include guardrails, content filtering, and integration points for PII redaction.
• Ensure the maintenance of revenue-critical deployments via observability, alerting, incident response, and SLA performance monitoring.
• Develop platform capabilities that are utilized by engineers in the field for partner telephony integrations and successful go-lives.
• Engage in code reviews, architecture assessments, and provide mentorship.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in software engineering.
• Senior-level responsibility for production systems with a comprehensive full-stack skill set.
• Practical experience with real-time systems, such as voice applications, WebRTC/SIP, streaming media, or similar low-latency products.
• Proficiency in React and TypeScript.
• Backend skills in Scala or another JVM language and/or Python.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, particularly on GCP or AWS.
• Proven track record in designing, building, and maintaining RESTful APIs, microservices, or event-driven systems.
• Familiarity with AI coding tools as a routine part of the development workflow.
• Experience with SLAs, observability practices, on-call rotations, and rollback strategies.
• Capability to deconstruct complex problems, make pragmatic decisions, and deliver iteratively.
• Strong communication skills across product, design, and operations teams.
• Experience in conversational AI or LLM orchestration is a plus.
• Knowledge of speech technologies such as Deepgram, ElevenLabs, Whisper, or OpenAI Realtime is advantageous.
• Familiarity with cloud telephony or CPaaS platforms like Twilio, Amazon Connect, Genesys, or LiveKit is beneficial.
• Experience in building customer service, CRM, contact center, or workflow automation tools is an asset.
• Understanding of travel industry technologies (PSS/GDS, hotel PMS/CRS) is a plus, though not essential.
