Senior Full-stack Engineer – React/Node, Backend-Focused

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the entire lifecycle of product features, encompassing database schema design, backend development, frontend delivery, and production monitoring.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable event-driven and distributed systems that ensure high reliability and data consistency.

• Create and enhance complex PostgreSQL queries, migrations, and transactional workflows to support high-performance financial operations.

• Develop robust third-party integrations utilizing webhooks, queues, retry mechanisms, and reconciliation processes.

• Apply reliability engineering patterns such as idempotency, dead-letter queues, outbox patterns, and fault-tolerant processing.

• Design responsive, high-quality user interfaces with React and Next.js.

• Play a role in architectural decision-making, focusing on scalability, observability, and operational excellence.

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to boost productivity and speed up delivery.

• Engage in code reviews, mentor fellow engineers, and advocate for best practices related to sensitive financial and transactional data.

• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams.

• Implement and sustain observability and monitoring using Datadog or OpenTelemetry.

• Contribute to infrastructure automation and manage cloud resources through Infrastructure as Code.

• Ensure that engineering practices comply with security, compliance, SOC2, and PCI-DSS standards where applicable.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience as a Full-Stack Engineer, delivering end-to-end production-ready applications.

• Strong expertise in TypeScript and Node.js.

• Advanced proficiency in React and Next.js.

• In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL, including raw SQL, query optimization, migrations, and performance analysis.

• Demonstrated experience in designing and maintaining event-driven and distributed systems.

• Familiarity with idempotency keys, retry strategies, dead-letter queues, outbox patterns, and reconciliation processes.

• Experience in building webhook-driven architectures and integrating third-party systems.

• Understanding of scalable system architecture, asynchronous processing, and fault-tolerant applications.

• Background in financial, payments, billing, payroll, or ledgering systems.

• Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code or similar platforms.

• Systems-thinking mindset with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail regarding edge cases and data integrity.

• Ability to work independently within impactful engineering teams.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.

• Familiarity with monitoring tools like Datadog or OpenTelemetry.

• Experience in regulated or compliance-heavy environments, including SOC2 or PCI-DSS.

• Knowledge of property-based testing frameworks such as fast-check.

• Proven track record in optimizing applications for scalability, reliability, and operational excellence.

• Prior experience in mentoring engineers and engaging in technical leadership activities.

• Experience in fintech or high-transaction-volume platforms.

• Exposure to modern AI-enhanced engineering workflows and automation practices.

• Experience collaborating within autonomous, product-focused engineering teams.
