Senior Full Stack Engineer, Customer & Cardholder Experiences

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, test, and continuously enhance Marqeta’s user interfaces and associated backend services.

• Define and achieve well-scoped project milestones.

• Act as a technical lead for projects when necessary.

• Utilize feedback from customers and product stakeholders to identify technical solutions that provide quick customer value.

• Mentor and nurture the growth of less experienced team members.

• Write clear, maintainable, reusable, efficient, and adaptable code with minimal defects.

• Recognize gaps, question the existing processes, and suggest innovative solutions.

• Lead design efforts for medium-sized components/features and contribute to the design of larger components/features.

• Take ownership of a system component or feature.

• Independently design software components that are testable and debuggable, featuring logical and maintainable APIs.

• Participate in on-call support as needed.

• Collaborate with the team and cross-functional partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years with a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 8 years of experience; alternatively, 8+ years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

• 2+ years of backend development experience in any object-oriented programming language.

• Familiarity with OAuth 2.0, JWTs, and user session management.

• Experience in developing applications using the modern Java backend stack with Spring Boot and Kubernetes on AWS.

• Proficient in building and consuming RESTful APIs.

• Experience with JavaScript and Node.js.

• Proven experience in developing scalable microservices on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills; able to work cross-functionally to deliver a project.

• Experience with CI/CD, containerized applications, and Agile methodologies (Scrum).

• Capable of conveying relevant information, including challenging task-level trade-offs that affect the product.

• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to identify technical blind spots and clarify ambiguities.

• Experience in Payments or Fintech is a plus.

• Familiarity with React, Angular, VueJS, or NextJS is a plus.

• Experience with highly available distributed systems, including sharding, replication, load balancing, and caching, is a bonus.
