Senior Full Stack Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.

📋 Description

• Develop the web-based operator interface for SimSpace’s internet simulation platform across various ranges and environments.

• Design and implement frontend workflows utilizing React and TypeScript.

• Create workflows for configuring simulated services, registering personas, managing topology, provisioning applications, delivering scenario content, and querying platform state.

• Construct reusable frontend architecture, components, and design patterns.

• Integrate the frontend with the control-plane API, focusing on authentication, authorization, validation, error handling, asynchronous operations, and real-time status updates.

• Convert complex platform operations into user-friendly, observable experiences.

• Collaborate with backend engineers on API design and agreements.

• Contribute to backend services and integration layers, including supporting endpoints and evolving data models.

• Develop views for platform health, range connectivity, service lifecycle, operation history, and partial-failure recovery.

• Implement state management and data-fetching strategies for a multi-tenant platform with asynchronous and event-driven backend behavior.

• Create automated component, integration, and end-to-end tests.

• Enhance frontend performance, accessibility, security, and maintainability.

• Collaborate with product, design, backend, network simulation, and SRE teams.

• Assist in establishing frontend standards, code-review practices, observability, release processes, and documentation.

• SimSpace functions as an AI Proving Ground, assisting governments, militaries, enterprises, and research institutions in training, testing, and enhancing cyber defenses.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in building production web applications using React and TypeScript.

• Proven experience in designing and delivering complex operator interfaces, administrative consoles, infrastructure-management products, or other workflow-intensive applications.

• Strong skills in frontend architecture, including component design, application state management, data fetching, routing, forms, validation, and error handling.

• Experience in integrating frontend applications with RESTful or similar platform APIs.

• Understanding of asynchronous and distributed-system behavior, including long-running operations, partial failures, retries, and eventual consistency.

• Backend development experience, preferably with Kotlin and Spring Boot, or the ability to become productive in that technology stack.

• Experience collaborating on API schemas and contracts with backend engineers.

• Strong testing practices across unit, component, integration, and end-to-end testing.

• Familiarity with authentication, authorization, secrets handling, and secure frontend development.

• Experience in instrumenting applications to diagnose failures across browser, API, and backend service boundaries.

• Strong instincts for product and user experience.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with engineers across frontend, backend, infrastructure, and operations.

• Must currently be authorized to work in Costa Rica.

• Must be able to participate in interviews and conduct business entirely in English.

• Must be able to primarily work within U.S. business hours when necessary.
