Senior Forensic Structural Engineer, P.E.

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.

📋 Description

• Allocate engineers to client claims within the designated area and oversee quality assurance.

• Inspect losses and damage sites in both residential and commercial properties.

• Carry out investigations to identify and document the extent of the damage.

• Provide expert guidance and leadership on intricate loss cases.

• Execute engineering strategies within the designated engineering team.

• Work in partnership with investigators to develop comprehensive cause-and-origin reports.

• Act as an expert witness in legal proceedings and/or depositions.

• Record and maintain billable hours based on time and expenses.

• Collaborate with EFI's national forensic expert team on various projects.

• Undertake other assigned responsibilities as needed.

• Contribute to organizational quality initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is mandatory.

• A Professional Engineering (PE) license is essential in the resident state.

• A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience or a suitable combination of experience and education is required.

• Proven experience in forensic engineering, structural damage evaluation, and failure analysis.

• Background in identifying causes of structural failures.

• Experience with assessments of storm and roof damage.

• Knowledge in building envelope investigations.

• Familiarity with evaluating structural collapses.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including effective presentation abilities.

• Proficiency in PC usage, including Microsoft Office applications.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills.

• Capability to work independently or as part of a team.

• Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods.

• Capacity to kneel, squat, bend, climb, crawl, stoop, and work overhead.

• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

• Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to push or pull weights of up to 100 pounds.

• Capability to drive for up to 4 hours a day.

• Willingness to travel as needed.
