This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +5 more states.
• Execute forensic investigations related to premises liability claims and litigation cases.
• Assess site conditions, building characteristics, maintenance practices, and environmental elements that contribute to incident causation.
• Conduct and supervise site inspections, documentation of scenes, and collection of evidence.
• Examine slip, trip, and fall incidents to formulate technical opinions on causation and liability.
• Carry out walkway friction testing and evaluations of slip resistance.
• Investigate and apply pertinent building codes, safety regulations, standards, ordinances, and industry best practices.
• Leverage 3D scanning, photogrammetry, and other forensic technologies to document and analyze locations of incidents.
• Perform hazard identification and risk assessment evaluations.
• Execute human factors evaluations and accident reconstruction analysis when necessary.
• Generate technical reports, presentations, and materials for expert witness testimony.
• Offer deposition and trial testimony as an expert witness.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, biomechanics, safety, and forensic fields.
• Establish and maintain robust client relationships through exemplary service and technical expertise.
• Deliver presentations, educational seminars, and thought leadership content to clients and industry organizations.
• Assist in business development efforts through networking, marketing, and industry participation.
• Contribute to the expansion of YA Group's forensic consulting practice.
• A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biomechanics, Safety Sciences, Human Factors, Occupational Safety, or a relevant technical field.
• Over 4 years of experience in conducting premises liability investigations, forensic consulting, safety analysis, accident reconstruction, or similar roles.
• Proficient in evaluating building codes, regulations, ordinances, standards, and safety practices.
• Experience in investigating slip, trip, and fall incidents and forming technical opinions regarding causation and liability.
• Familiarity with walkway friction testing and slip resistance evaluations.
• Knowledge in conducting hazard identification, risk assessments, and human factors analyses.
• Experience using 3D scanning, photogrammetry, or related forensic documentation technologies.
• Skilled in preparing expert reports and conveying technical findings to attorneys, insurance companies, clients, and other stakeholders.
• Prior experience providing deposition and/or trial testimony.
• Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and client-facing communication skills.
• Proven ability to present effectively to clients, industry organizations, and referral sources.
• Established connections within the legal, insurance, risk management, engineering, or forensic consulting sectors.
• A demonstrated track record in business development, client retention, and growth of consulting practices.
• An existing book of business or transferable client relationships is advantageous.
• A self-starter capable of independently managing projects, clients, and business development initiatives.
• Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.), or other relevant professional credentials are highly preferred.
