This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Deliver advanced accounting, financial analysis, reconciliation, reporting, and compliance assistance within a multifaceted public-sector setting.
• Engage in hands-on financial and accounting tasks to ensure the provision of accurate, timely, and reliable financial information and reporting.
• Execute complex account reconciliations, financial analyses, and journal entry preparations.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including activities related to month-end and year-end.
• Examine financial transactions for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to relevant policies and standards.
• Investigate and resolve issues related to accounting, reporting, and financial systems.
• Oversee and analyze accounts receivable, revenue, payroll-related transactions, and inter-unit accounts.
• Facilitate internal and external audit processes by preparing necessary documentation, reconciliations, and working papers.
• Identify financial risks, control deficiencies, and opportunities for process enhancement.
• Create and maintain financial procedures, documentation, and reporting tools.
• Offer technical guidance and interpretation regarding accounting standards, policies, legislation, and financial procedures.
• Assist in financial system upgrades, process enhancements, and operational initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and central agencies to promote financial accountability.
• Contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of financial operations.
• Report to the Senior Financial Officer/Executive Director, Finance Facilities and Procurement.
• Proficiency with ERP systems.
• Experience in supporting audit activities and implementing process improvements.
• Ability to interpret and apply financial policies and accounting standards.
• Proven experience in financial operations, reporting, reconciliations, and accounting activities.
• Understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, reporting, and audit requirements.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and information systems.
• Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical capabilities.
• Capacity to work independently, manage competing priorities, and exercise sound professional judgment.
• Competence in performing complex account reconciliations, financial analyses, and journal entry preparations.
• Ability to assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including month-end and year-end tasks.
• Competence in reviewing financial transactions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Ability to investigate and troubleshoot accounting, reporting, and financial system issues.
• Proficient in monitoring and analyzing accounts receivable, revenue, payroll-related transactions, and inter-unit accounts.
• Capability to support both internal and external audits.
• Skilled in developing and maintaining financial procedures, documentation, and reporting tools.
• Ability to interpret accounting standards, policies, legislation, and financial procedures.
• Capacity to support enhancements in financial systems and process improvements.
