Principal, Strategic Finance – Analytics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain the monthly/weekly forecasts for cloud and AI expenditures, reconciling actual figures with planned amounts and explaining variances to leadership.

• Monitor AI spending by category and model/provider combination, highlighting any usage or pricing changes that impact the forecast.

• Collaborate with Infrastructure and AI Platform engineering teams to assess, validate, and prioritize efficiency initiatives, such as model routing, token optimization, and provider migration.

• Take ownership of migration-tracking reporting and ensure that the underlying data is traceable back to source systems.

• Prepare and deliver cost updates to senior stakeholders, converting technical usage data into financial narratives.

• Identify and quantify opportunities for cost efficiency and track their progression to realized savings.

• Conduct monthly and ad hoc reviews with Finance and Tech leadership.

• Manage the understanding, forecasting, and influence of Airbnb's total cloud and AI expenditures.

• Lead planning cycles, including the close-out of FY26 and guidance for FY27.

• Foster a month-over-month discipline in cost variance analysis.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in finance, FP&A, or cost management, ideally with direct exposure to cloud infrastructure costs.

• Previous experience with AI/ML infrastructure costs is highly preferred.

• Proven ability to create and maintain intricate financial models and forecasts in ambiguous and rapidly changing environments.

• A strong history of collaborating with engineering and technical teams to interpret usage data.

• Must reside in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.
