This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take full ownership of accounts receivable, revenue, and deferred revenue reconciliations from start to finish.
• Generate and distribute billings for customers and partners while overseeing collections.
• Assist with the month-end closing process by preparing journal entries, completing close checklists, and coordinating with the Accountant.
• Conduct balance sheet account reconciliations and address any discrepancies.
• Review and validate sales and use tax calculations and filings using Avalara.
• Aid in the annual budgeting process and rolling forecast cycles utilizing Vena.
• Create monthly analyses of budget variances.
• Update and maintain financial dashboards in PowerBI.
• Develop and sustain ad hoc financial models for strategic decision-making, scenario planning, and investment analysis.
• Lead analysis of partisan electioneering spending for compliance reporting.
• Keep track of grant expenses and prepare the financial sections of grant reports.
• Support audit schedules, respond to auditor inquiries, and assist in preparing 990 and tax filings.
• Ensure correct payroll allocations and uphold data integrity between TriNet, Vena, and Intacct.
• Maintain data integrity across Sage Intacct, Vena, Bill.com, and PowerBI.
• Enhance recurring financial processes, reporting workflows, and reconciliation templates.
• Keep organized and auditable records that comply with internal controls and nonprofit accounting standards.
• Collaborate closely with the Director of Finance & Accounting as an individual contributor, without any people management responsibilities.
• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 5–7 years of advancing finance or accounting experience with independent management of FP&A processes and accounting operations.
• Strong grasp of GAAP and the fundamentals of nonprofit accounting.
• Excellent proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, including financial modeling and complex reconciliation tasks.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably Sage Intacct, and financial planning tools like Vena.
• Strong analytical capabilities coupled with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to juggle multiple deliverables while meeting competing deadlines.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to present financial data clearly to non-financial colleagues.
• Comfort in working independently and taking charge of processes without close supervision.
• Preferred: Experience in nonprofit organizations, grant accounting, restricted fund tracking, and 501(c)(3)/(c)(4) structures.
• Preferred: Knowledge of sales tax compliance and revenue recognition.
• Preferred: Experience with PowerBI or similar data visualization tools.
• Preferred: Familiarity with payroll systems, PEOs, and allocation methodologies like TriNet.
• Preferred: Experience in supporting external audits.
• Preferred: Background in accounting or FP&A process and control improvements.
