This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Supervise and assist field engineering personnel to achieve designated service cycle times.
• Oversee task allocations within defined hours and budgets, optimizing efforts to enhance client value.
• Organize, lead, and engage in meetings with clients and customers.
• Perform fieldwork that includes ASHRAE Level 1 clipboard audits and targeted investment-grade audits.
• Collaborate with program management, operations, outreach teams, and program engineers.
• Evaluate incentive eligibility, documentation prerequisites, and measurement and verification methodologies.
• Direct ROM cost estimates and energy-saving assessments to facilitate the sales process.
• Analyze customer capital and maintenance budgets, energy rebates, financing, and other funding avenues.
• Deliver technical owner’s representative services, including scopes of work, initial 30% designs, incentive eligibility language, and sealed-bid review assistance.
• Manage competing priorities among public and private sector stakeholders.
• Foster long-term relationships with customers throughout active projects.
• Assist in the development of new business opportunities.
• Train and mentor junior engineering team members.
• Develop and implement software solutions.
• Assess life-cycle performance of various solutions.
• Generate reports and materials outlining identified energy opportunities.
• At least 6 years of experience in energy efficiency, distributed energy resources, and/or best practices in facilities energy management; 8+ years is preferred.
• Capable of leading, delegating, coordinating, and tracking tasks within project teams.
• Experience in conducting investment-grade facility energy assessments and data collection independently.
• Familiarity with pumps and motors, HVAC systems, lighting, hot water systems, building automation, and process loads.
• Knowledge of solar, battery and thermal energy storage, cogeneration systems, and associated infrastructure.
• Experience in customer-facing roles that support expedited sales cycles in performance contracting and consulting.
• Understanding of energy efficiency, conservation, integrated demand-side management, and decarbonization principles and calculation techniques.
• Acquainted with municipal and institutional customer operations and funding pathways.
• Knowledgeable about REN, CCA, and IOU ratepayer-funded energy efficiency programs.
• Ability to create customer/stakeholder-facing energy and sustainability planning reports and presentation materials.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of conveying technical concepts to non-technical personnel and clients.
• Proficient in energy modeling software such as eQUEST, Energy Toolbase, Universal Translator 3, and spreadsheet-based tools.
• Skilled in MS Office programs.
• Significant regional travel and occasional overnight stays are required.
• A valid California Driver's license is required.
• A B.S. in engineering, energy, sustainability, or a related field is necessary.
• Professional Engineer License is required.
• CEM, CEA, or CMVP certification is preferred.
• Building Operator Certification is preferred.
