This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hawaii.
• Lead teams conducting biological surveys for rare, threatened, and endangered plant and wildlife species in Hawaii and the Pacific Islands.
• Identify prevalent non-native, invasive, and noxious plant and animal species.
• Oversee species-specific survey methodologies, including acoustic detector surveys.
• Conduct field surveys and monitoring either independently or as part of a team across various habitats.
• Gather and document scientific data for statistical analysis, population assessments, and regulatory compliance.
• Utilize electronic data collection techniques, including GPS.
• Manage, interpret, and analyze collected data.
• Prepare comprehensive field reports.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams on biological resource protection, permitting, mitigation, and restoration initiatives.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level field personnel.
• Ensure assigned tasks are completed on schedule and within budget.
• Independently manage tasks and/or supervise project teams.
• Operate under the guidance of a senior project manager or senior-level team member.
• Support natural resource projects through biological surveys, vegetation mapping, wildlife assessments, monitoring, and habitat restoration.
• Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, or a related discipline.
• 8 years of relevant experience or equivalent experience and/or education as a task lead or Project Manager on projects in Hawaii and the Pacific Islands involving habitat assessments, wildlife and botanical surveys, environmental permitting, and/or construction monitoring.
• Valid driver's license.
• Capability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check per company policy.
• US Citizenship is mandatory.
• 10+ years of relevant experience is preferred.
• Experience in managing project tasks and budgets.
• Demonstrated experience as a lead reviewer of technical reports.
• Familiarity with permit application requirements and strategies for environmental permitting challenges.
• Previous client-facing experience is highly desired.
• Working knowledge of state and federal environmental protections.
• Familiarity with agencies overseeing special-status species.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and a detail-oriented work style.
• Prior experience in environmental consulting.
• Experience in developing project scopes and estimating project costs.
• Background in marketing and proposal development.
• Ability to be local for assignments in Hawaii and the Pacific Islands.
