Senior Field Applications Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Deliver technical assistance to customers' PCB designers and manufacturing teams.

• Collaborate with customers' PCB designers during the early stages of the design process.

• Offer insights on routing, layout strategies, signal integrity, PCB layer stack-up cost considerations, material choices, and electrical/mechanical specifications.

• Educate customer designers and technologists on Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Value (DFV) principles.

• Shorten customer design-cycle time by facilitating or resolving issues between TTM pre-production engineering teams and customers.

• Enhance the quality and completeness of customer design submissions.

• Detect design issues related to manufacturability and reliability testing.

• Keep customer designers and manufacturing teams updated on TTM capabilities.

• Establish technology direction and roadmap through formal presentations to customers.

• Support QTA/NPI/high-volume manufacturing utilizing TTM solutions across North America and Asia Pacific.

• Provide TTM manufacturing facilities with insights into upcoming customer needs and technology requirements.

• Identify and communicate gaps in roadmap and capabilities.

• Address customer technical requirements in collaboration with engineering and operations.

• Evaluate customer designs for manufacturability, controlled impedance, and specification enhancements.

• Create technical connections between customers and TTM.

• Assist pre-production teams in the DFM/TQ process to resolve on-hold issues at customer locations.

• Support Sales Account Managers in boosting customer revenue through technical assistance and services.

• Travel to customer locations and TTM manufacturing sites as necessary.

• Develop and deliver technical capability presentations alongside the sales team.

• Maintain regular communication with Sales, Development, Pre-Production Engineering, and Operations while ensuring effective cross-departmental communication.

⛳️ Requirements

• The ideal candidate must be a California resident.

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred.

• At least 6 years of experience in engineering roles related to PCB manufacturing is preferred.

• Minimum experience in electrical design performance and signal integrity (Impedance, insertion loss) is required.

• Intermediate proficiency in reading drawings/blueprints and using PCB CAM software and tooling PCB stack-up tools.

• Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.

• A solid background in printed circuit engineering and knowledge of the complete PCB manufacturing process, including process flows, individual processing steps, and tooling.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with customers' design teams.

• Capable of influencing PCB design quality for strategic customers and enabling high-yield products across TTM’s North America and Asia Pacific locations.

• Self-driven and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

• Ability to make routine decisions with general guidance from the department Manager.

• Proficient in public speaking and presentation delivery.

• Disciplined in remote working practices.

• Willingness to travel 15–25% for customer visits and TTM manufacturing sites in North America and Asia Pacific.

• Compliance with TTM Export Control Policies and Procedures, including applicable ITAR, EAR, and OFAC regulations is mandatory.

• Must be able to identify ITAR products and understand access restrictions for US citizens and US permanent residents.

• Must recognize foreign person visitors and adhere to authorization protocols for bringing foreign visitors into facilities.

• Understanding of export and ITAR requirements for shipments leaving the US and managing vendor approvals for ITAR manufacturing and services is essential.
