Senior Environmental Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +9 more states.

📋 Description

• Assist in site prospecting and the initial stages of project development for energy initiatives

• Identify and assess potential project locations

• Initiate long-lead studies and preliminary federal, state, and local environmental licensing and permitting activities

• Provide guidance to multidisciplinary teams regarding environmental site limitations and permitting approaches

• Aid in the development of wind, solar, battery, hydrogen, hydro, and transmission projects

• Utilize desktop research, field reconnaissance, GIS, digital tools, and artificial intelligence for project assessments

• Formulate environmental strategies for transition to late-stage development teams

• Conduct environmental due diligence assessments

• Help with facility compliance audits

• Support functions related to compliance, reporting, monitoring, remediation, and environmental permitting

• Track and evaluate environmental policies and regulations

• Offer assistance in addressing environmental issues

• Collaborate with Federal, State, and Regional agencies

• Carry out other job-related responsibilities as assigned

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree

• Over 4 years of relevant experience

• Experience in renewable energy projects

• Proficiency in assessing critical environmental constraints for energy initiatives

• Familiarity with the application process and support for permits from county, state, and federal land use authorities

• Proven experience implementing the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)

• Understanding of the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and National Historic Preservation Act

• Capacity to work collaboratively on multiple projects involving complex environmental and regulatory challenges

• Willingness to travel as required

• Ability to access remote locations using off-road vehicles and/or hiking

• Skills in field mapping and GIS

• Up-to-date knowledge of national and state environmental policies and regulations

• Effectiveness in interfacing with internal and external clients, subject matter experts, and stakeholders

• Competence in assisting with complex environmental issues

• Ability to cultivate working relationships with local agency personnel and NGOs
