Senior Engineering Systems Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Manage, maintain, and enhance CATIA along with associated engineering design tools and processes.

• Create and enforce CAD standards, templates, naming conventions, and configuration practices.

• Formulate, implement, and uphold SOPs and governance processes for the use of engineering systems.

• Carry out audits and compliance assessments of CAD data and engineering methodologies.

• Refine CAD workflows, design procedures, and system integrations.

• Develop and sustain automation tools, macros, and templates.

• Collaborate with Engineering and IT departments on system enhancements, upgrades, and integrations.

• Assess engineering systems architecture, tools, and methodologies.

• Provide advanced technical assistance and troubleshooting for CATIA users.

• Create and present training materials, user manuals, and structured onboarding programs.

• Act as the primary point of escalation for intricate CAD-related issues.

• Assist global engineering teams and ensure consistent system performance across various locations.

• Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing system performance, usability, and adoption.

• Guarantee the quality, accuracy, and consistency of CAD data for downstream engineering, manufacturing, and certification processes.

• Oversee system usage, performance metrics, and user feedback.

• Advocate for standardization and reuse of engineering data, templates, and best practices.

• Collaborate with Chief Engineers and Design Engineering leadership to align tools and workflows with product development requirements.

• Work with IT, PLM, and digital engineering teams to ensure system reliability, security, and scalability.

• Facilitate CAD integration with manufacturing, configuration management, and documentation workflows.

• Influence engineering standards, digital engineering strategy, and system adoption through technical leadership and mentorship.

• Use independent judgment to assess technical challenges and implement solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• An Associate’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Engineering, CAD Design, Drafting, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical field is required.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.

• At least 5 years of experience in administering, supporting, or optimizing CATIA or similar CAD systems within a complex engineering or product development setting.

• Proven expertise in CAD system configuration, standards development, workflow optimization, and user support in regulated industries.

• Experience in developing or supporting CATIA automation tools, macros, templates, or engineering process enhancements is required.

• Experience in supporting CATIA users in aerospace, aircraft interiors, automotive, or similarly regulated manufacturing sectors is required.

• Equivalent combinations of technical training, certifications, and directly related CATIA experience will be accepted in place of formal education requirements.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills regarding CATIA functionality, user support, and engineering systems.

• Ability to evaluate engineering workflows and identify chances for improved efficiency, standardization, and process enhancement.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to train, coach, and support engineers at various technical experience levels.

• Familiarity with product development lifecycles within aerospace, aircraft interiors, automotive, or related sectors is preferred.

• Capability to manage multiple priorities while supporting global engineering teams in a dynamic environment.

• Exposure to Model-Based Definition (MBD) practices per ASME Y14.41 or equivalent ISO standards, including the application of 3D product definition and annotation strategies within CAD environments.

• Must have authorization to work in the United States.

• CATIA certification or advanced CATIA training is preferred.

• Proficiency in clear and effective communication in English, both verbally and in writing.

• Extended or irregular hours may be necessary.
