Senior Engineering Systems Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee, maintain, and enhance CATIA and associated engineering design tools and processes throughout the engineering department.

• Develop and enforce CAD standards, templates, naming conventions, and configuration practices.

• Create, implement, and uphold SOPs and governance processes for the use of engineering systems.

• Perform audits and compliance assessments of CAD data and engineering practices.

• Identify and execute improvements to CAD workflows, design processes, and system integrations.

• Design and maintain automation tools, macros, and templates.

• Collaborate with Engineering and IT on system enhancements, upgrades, and integrations.

• Assess enhancements to the architecture, tools, and methodologies of engineering systems.

• Provide expert technical support and troubleshooting for CATIA users.

• Create and present training materials, user guides, and structured onboarding programs.

• Act as the primary escalation point for intricate CAD-related concerns.

• Assist global engineering teams by ensuring uniform system performance and user experience.

• Lead continuous improvement efforts aimed at enhancing system performance, usability, and adoption.

• Guarantee the quality, accuracy, and consistency of CAD data for downstream engineering, manufacturing, and certification processes.

• Track system usage, performance metrics, and user feedback.

• Encourage standardization and reuse of engineering data, templates, and best practices.

• Align CAD tools, standards, and workflows with design methodologies and product development requirements.

• Work in conjunction with IT, PLM, and digital engineering teams on system reliability, security, and scalability.

• Assist in integrating CAD systems with manufacturing, configuration management, and documentation workflows.

• Shape engineering standards, digital engineering strategy, and system adoption through technical leadership, mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration.

• Utilize independent judgment to evaluate technical challenges and implement solutions across engineering systems and processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• An associate’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Engineering, CAD Design, Drafting, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical field is required.

• A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.

• At least 5 years of experience managing, supporting, or optimizing CATIA or similar CAD systems in a complex engineering or product development setting.

• Proven expertise in CAD system configuration, standards development, workflow optimization, and user support in regulated industries.

• Experience in developing or supporting CATIA automation tools, macros, templates, or engineering process enhancements is required.

• Experience assisting CATIA users in aerospace, aircraft interiors, automotive, or similarly regulated manufacturing sectors is required.

• An equivalent mix of technical training, certifications, and directly related CATIA experience will be considered in lieu of formal educational requirements.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to CATIA functionality, user support, and engineering systems.

• Ability to analyze engineering workflows and pinpoint opportunities for improved efficiency, standardization, and process enhancement.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the capability to train, mentor, and support engineers across various technical experience levels.

• Familiarity with product development lifecycles in aerospace, aircraft interiors, automotive, or related industries is preferred.

• Capability to manage multiple priorities and assist global engineering teams in a dynamic environment.

• Exposure to Model-Based Definition (MBD) practices in accordance with ASME Y14.41 or equivalent ISO standards is preferred.

• Must have authorization to work in the United States.

• CATIA certification or advanced CATIA training is preferred.

• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

• Extended or irregular hours may be necessary.
