Senior Engineering Systems Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee, maintain, and enhance CATIA along with associated engineering design tools and methodologies.

• Develop and enforce CAD standards, templates, naming conventions, and configuration practices.

• Create, execute, and uphold SOPs and governance protocols for the utilization of engineering systems.

• Perform audits and compliance assessments of CAD data and engineering methodologies.

• Recognize and implement enhancements to CAD workflows, design procedures, and system integrations.

• Design and sustain automation tools, macros, and templates.

• Collaborate with Engineering and IT on system improvements, upgrades, and integrations.

• Assess engineering systems architecture, tools, and techniques.

• Offer advanced technical support and troubleshooting for CATIA users.

• Develop and present training resources, user manuals, and structured onboarding processes.

• Act as the primary point of escalation for intricate CAD-related challenges.

• Assist global engineering teams across various locations.

• Propel continuous improvement initiatives focusing on system performance, usability, and adoption.

• Ensure the quality, accuracy, and consistency of CAD data for downstream engineering, manufacturing, and certification processes.

• Track system utilization, performance metrics, and user feedback.

• Advocate for standardization and reuse of engineering data, templates, and best practices.

• Collaborate with Chief Engineers and Design Engineering leadership to synchronize tools, standards, and workflows.

• Work closely with IT, PLM, and digital engineering teams to ensure system reliability, security, and scalability.

• Facilitate CAD integration with manufacturing, configuration management, and documentation workflows.

⛳️ Requirements

• An Associate’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Engineering, CAD Design, Drafting, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical field is required.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.

• At least 5 years of experience administering, supporting, or optimizing CATIA or similar CAD systems in a complex engineering or product development setting.

• Proven expertise in CAD system configuration, standards development, workflow enhancement, and user support within regulated industries.

• Required experience in developing or supporting CATIA automation tools, macros, templates, or improvements in engineering processes.

• Required experience in supporting CATIA users within aerospace, aircraft interiors, automotive, or similarly regulated manufacturing sectors.

• Equivalent combinations of technical training, certifications, and relevant CATIA experience will be considered in lieu of formal education requirements.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities pertaining to CATIA functionality, user assistance, and engineering systems.

• Capability to analyze engineering workflows and pinpoint opportunities for enhanced efficiency, standardization, and process advancement.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train, coach, and support engineers of varying technical expertise.

• Familiarity with product development lifecycles in aerospace, aircraft interiors, automotive, or related fields is preferred.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities while assisting global engineering teams in a dynamic environment.

• Exposure to Model-Based Definition (MBD) practices in accordance with ASME Y14.41 or equivalent ISO standards is preferred.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

• CATIA certification or advanced CATIA training is preferred.

• Proficiency in clear and effective communication in English, both verbally and in writing.

• Willingness to work extended or irregular hours as needed.
