Senior Engineer, Platform Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop the framework that assesses how efficiently and effectively Stord engineers can operate, catering to internal engineering clients.

• Determine necessary developments, make informed technical choices, and take ownership of outcomes with significant autonomy.

• Convert the architectural guidance from the Principal Engineering Group into functional software.

• Create ownership structures for shared services.

• Ensure that product teams can seamlessly integrate with platform services, minimizing friction.

• Contribute to the technical roadmap aimed at unifying Stord’s product offerings into composable shared services.

• Detect overlapping capabilities and facilitate their extraction into clearly defined platform services.

• Aid in the smooth integration of multiple products, including the consolidation of acquired products.

• Act as the primary technical resource for product teams working with platform services.

• Identify challenges in shared infrastructure usage and maintain feedback loops with product teams.

• Collaborate with SRE on infrastructure issues that impact the reliability of shared services.

• Develop MCP integrations, shared skill libraries, automated feedback mechanisms, type systems, test harnesses, linters, and pre-commit hooks.

• Create infrastructure that allows agents to function autonomously on significant tasks.

• Gain insights into the challenges faced by internal engineers through direct discussions and deliver tools, golden paths, and scaffolding.

• Measure improvements in developer experience and the hours saved per engineer.

• Assess agentic-development tools and design patterns for routine engineering practices.

• Identify points of failure for agents and implement infrastructure modifications that enhance reliability.

• Integrate with internal teams, map workflows or codebases comprehensively, and implement enhancements.

• Establish dependable agent workflows, golden paths, and a platform that serves as the default infrastructure for engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Significant experience within the infrastructure or platform layer.

• Practical experience managing agents in production-adjacent environments.

• CLAUDE.md or its equivalent in at least one repository.

• Product management instincts: identify issues, execute, measure, and refine.

• Ability to communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders.

• High degree of autonomy and comfort working without comprehensive briefs.

• CLI-native workflow utilizing Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or a similar development environment (strict requirement).

• Strong sense of ownership and accountability.

• Excellent communication abilities.

• Collaborative mindset and active participation in constructive code reviews.

• Production-oriented mindset with a focus on reliability, failure modes, monitoring, and operational issues.

• Quick to learn new AI/ML technologies and tools in a fast-paced environment.

• Capability to utilize AI coding tools while ensuring quality and maintaining technical judgment.

• Nice to have: context in logistics, supply chain, or operations software domains.

• Nice to have: familiarity with Elixir/Phoenix, TypeScript, Kafka, and GCP.

• Nice to have: experience in building or contributing to an internal developer platform.

• Nice to have: knowledge of workflow orchestration tools such as Temporal, Prefect, or Airflow.

• Nice to have: contributions to open-source projects or involvement in agentic developer communities.

• Bonus: experience with authentication/authorization systems including OAuth, OIDC, RBAC/ABAC.
