Senior Engineer, Geospatial Experience

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina.

📋 Description

• Take charge of essential components of the platform, encompassing system design and architecture as well as production code and long-term reliability.

• Assume responsibility for segments of the platform architecture as the team expands.

• Manage the map and geometry layer, which involves extracting geometry from documents, accurately placing it at real latitude and longitude, measuring it, and exporting it for field applications.

• Oversee geospatial distance, routing, and hauling-related functionalities.

• Make impactful architectural choices and uphold production code.

• Ensure code quality through reviews, adherence to engineering standards, and continuous integration.

• Implement monitoring, observability, and systems designed to fail gracefully when reliable outputs cannot be determined.

• Maintain comprehensive ownership of the systems developed.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in developing production software, with progressively greater responsibility for architecture and technical decisions.

• Strong production experience using TypeScript and Node.js.

• Practical experience working with maps, coordinates, geometry, or geospatial data within real-world applications.

• Familiarity with one or more of the following: GIS, GeoJSON, KML, routing, asset mapping, fleet tracking, logistics, agriculture, drones, or comparable geospatial applications.

• Experience dealing with complex real-world data, including inconsistent formats, missing fields, and unreliable or incomplete sources.

• Background in developing systems where incorrect outputs can lead to significant business impacts.

• Strong judgment regarding data quality, accuracy, and the appropriate times for a system to indicate that a definitive answer cannot be provided.

• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.

• Clear and effective asynchronous communication abilities.
