Senior Engineer – Combustion, Refrigeration

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Deliver technical leadership and engineering support for Conagra’s Natural Gas Safety Management program as well as refrigeration systems throughout its manufacturing network.

• Enhance and support the Natural Gas Safety Management program via audits, engineering calculations, design evaluations, and risk mitigation efforts.

• Collaborate with plant teams and external partners to ensure adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and insurance standards.

• Suggest capital enhancements that improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of combustion and refrigeration systems.

• Oversee combustion safety audits and assist facilities in formulating corrective action plans.

• Create engineering workflow documents, encompassing budget estimates, Front End Loading packages, and technical briefs.

• Aid Engineering Project Managers throughout project design, execution, commissioning, and startup phases.

• Contribute to the development and review of natural gas purge plans.

• Offer technical assistance during plant emergencies and operational disruptions.

• Remain updated on advancements in combustion and refrigeration technologies, standards, and best practices within the industry.

• Provide expert guidance on refrigeration systems, industrial chillers, combustible gas piping systems, and combustion control apparatus.

• Collaborate with plant teams, Corporate Engineering, external engineering firms, contractors, consultants, and equipment vendors.

• Travel frequently to manufacturing sites, potentially up to 50% of the time.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Over 5 years of experience in the food manufacturing sector.

• More than 5 years of experience managing industrial utility systems.

• Familiarity with National Fire Protection Association combustion safety regulations.

• Background in supporting combustible gas systems and utility infrastructure.

• Preferred knowledge of Industrial Refrigeration standards and widely accepted engineering practices.

• At least 2 years of refrigeration experience preferred.

• Strong technical problem-solving abilities and collaboration skills.

• Experience collaborating with contractors, consultants, equipment suppliers, and manufacturing teams.

• Position may be remote, located east of Denver, Colorado and within reasonable distance to a major airport.

• Willingness to travel up to 50%.
