Senior Engineer, Cloud Operations – Contract Position

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine.

📋 Description

• Design, document, construct, manage, and enhance large-scale, highly available, multi-cloud infrastructure and services.

• Take ownership of and advance key components of Pindrop’s SaaS platform operating on AWS and GCP.

• Oversee, enhance, and expand the observability stack and operational workflows.

• Evaluate performance, usability, and platform stability challenges, proposing innovative, long-term solutions.

• Identify bottlenecks, manual workflows, and inefficient processes, automating them into dependable, measurable systems.

• Manage multiple projects concurrently while collaborating across teams to establish and promote best practices.

• Advance engineering processes from informal to well-documented, optimized, and repeatable.

• Enhance the scalability, cost-effectiveness, and reliability of cloud components.

• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation approximately every 16 weeks.

• During the first 30 days, meet the team and key collaborators, set up accounts/tools/access, learn products/services/workflows/environments, contribute to projects, and submit/review pull requests.

• Independently contribute to initiatives and engage in design discussions and reviews within 60 days.

• Develop an understanding of platform architecture, make aligned technical decisions, and own significant components or initiatives within 90 days.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in designing, building, and operating large-scale, automated cloud systems across multiple regions and zones in AWS and GCP.

• Hands-on experience with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes (EKS/GKE) and service mesh technologies.

• Strong foundation in observability systems for monitoring, alerting, and performance analysis.

• Experience in constructing and optimizing centralized logging pipelines for large-scale systems.

• On-call experience, including troubleshooting, incident response, and system administration.

• 5–7 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or similar cloud-focused roles.

• Proficient with infrastructure and deployment tools such as Terraform, Packer, Ansible, Helm, Flux/ArgoCD, and Istio.

• Strong scripting capabilities (Python, Bash, and/or TypeScript preferred).

• Hands-on experience with CI/CD ecosystems and tools (GitHub/GitHub Actions, Jenkins, JFrog, VMware, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.).

• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar), including high availability design, query optimization, and debugging.

• Proven experience in operating distributed systems and applying CI/CD best practices.

• Experience with telephony infrastructure is an advantage.

• Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation approximately once every 16 weeks.
