Senior Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Enhance and sustain the cybersecurity posture of the cloud platform stack across both classified and unclassified settings.

• Assist with ATO and continuous ATO requirements, ensuring that platform modifications comply with the relevant DoD Reference Design and authorized security baseline.

• Identify, assess, prioritize, and mitigate vulnerabilities within cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes environments, containers, applications, and associated technologies.

• Embed security controls and automated security testing within DevSecOps and GitOps workflows.

• Facilitate continuous monitoring and integration with the relevant DoD Cyber Service Providers.

• Create and sustain security automation utilizing Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code tools, such as Terraform, Ansible, Helm, Kubernetes Operators, and similar technologies.

• Ensure utilization of the latest hardened containers from Iron Bank and update platform elements that fall outside the Iron Bank/Big Bang baseline.

• Support Zero Trust principles, identity management, access control, PKI, authentication, authorization, ingress/egress, and micro-segmentation functionalities.

• Oversee and update access and security policies, attestations, groups, users, devices, certificates, and resource entitlements.

• Aid in the integration with DoD PKI and Single Sign-On capabilities.

• Secure and support technologies such as AppGate, Palo Alto firewalls, HashiCorp Vault and Consul, Keycloak, Zeek, and RKE2/Kubernetes.

• Create and maintain cybersecurity and accreditation documentation that adheres to the DoD Risk Management Framework.

• Collaborate with DoD teams and stakeholders to enhance security processes and expedite secure enterprise deployments.

• Engage in Agile development methodologies, including backlog refinement, technical planning, implementation, testing, and delivery.

• Diagnose security and access issues impacting platform users and related applications and services.

⛳️ Requirements

• This position is based in the U.S.; all programs supported require U.S. citizenship for employment eligibility.

• All work must take place within the continental United States.

• A minimum of 8 years of pertinent experience in cybersecurity, cloud security, cloud architecture, DevSecOps, platform engineering, or a similar technical field.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• IAT Level III certification for roles focused on security.

• One or more relevant cloud certifications are required.

• Must be Secret eligible.

• Experience in securing workloads and infrastructure within AWS, Azure, or other enterprise cloud environments.

• Proven experience in identifying and addressing vulnerabilities across cloud infrastructure, containers, Kubernetes, operating systems, and applications.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code / Configuration as Code, preferably using Terraform, Ansible, Helm, or similar technologies.

• Understanding of GitOps, CI/CD, and DevSecOps security methodologies.

• Experience with identity and access management, PKI, Zero Trust principles, network security, firewalls, or software-defined perimeter technologies.

• Background in security monitoring, vulnerability management, security scanning, logging, and incident resolution.

• Working knowledge of DoD RMF, ATO/cATO, STIGs, and DoD cybersecurity standards.

• Capability to work directly with software engineers, platform engineers, SREs, product teams, and government stakeholders to integrate security into engineering workflows.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform effectively in a dynamic Agile setting.

• Capacity to obtain and sustain an active Secret security clearance.
