
Senior Embedded Software Product Line Leader

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +2 more locations.
• Oversee Platform Software engineering initiatives for essential programs within GE Aerospace’s Application Compute Environment (ACE) Product Line.
• Direct distributed software engineering teams that include GE Aerospace and external suppliers.
• Act as the main engineering contact for both customers and internal stakeholders.
• Manage and advance the ACE product line roadmap, common assets, architecture, and strategies for reuse.
• Spearhead Platform and Test Software efforts for the KC-46 FMC Refresh and C-130J FMC Refresh programs.
• Ensure execution aligns with schedule, cost, technical scope, risk management, and quality commitments.
• Collaborate with teams in Systems, Hardware, Safety, Security, Quality, Certification, Sourcing, and Program Management.
• Provide technical oversight throughout requirements, design, implementation, verification, validation, and DO-178C certification processes.
• Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors effectively.
• Deliver status updates, metrics, and risk assessments to leadership and stakeholders.
• Mentor sub-team leaders and assist in developing technical and execution capabilities.
• Define strategies for staffing, technology, product reuse, and process enhancements with engineering managers.
• Advocate for continuous improvement and best practices in product line engineering.
• Lead the integration of AI-enabled engineering initiatives focused on test automation, defect trend analysis, requirements insights, code quality, verification efficiency, and knowledge reuse.
• Assess and implement emerging technologies, automation, model-based methods, data-driven decision-making, and responsible AI for avionics development.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field from an accredited university or college (for US candidates).
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering or technical discipline (for Queretaro, Mexico candidates).
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in embedded real-time systems and software development (for US candidates).
• At least 10 years of experience leading software engineering throughout the complete development lifecycle (for US candidates).
• Significant experience in embedded real-time systems and software development (for Mexico candidates).
• Extensive experience in leading software engineering initiatives across the entire development lifecycle (for Mexico candidates).
• Proven experience in managing complex technical projects that involve cross-functional and multi-site teams.
• Strong technical leadership background within embedded software environments.
• Capability to collaborate effectively with customers, internal stakeholders, and suppliers in regulated development environments.
• Demonstrated success in leading technology transformation, process enhancements, or digital engineering initiatives.
• US candidates must not require employment visa sponsorship.
• Mexico candidates must have the legal authorization to work in Mexico.
• Preferred: experience in aerospace, avionics, or other safety-critical sectors.
• Preferred: familiarity with DO-178B/C, DO-254, DO-297, and ARP4754 standards.
• Preferred: knowledge of Product Line Engineering principles and tools.
• Preferred: understanding of EVM, Activity Based Management, and Agile Scrum methodologies.
• Preferred: experience in global and virtual team leadership.
• Preferred: knowledge of real-time operating systems, processing platforms, networking products, and multi-core processor architectures.
• Preferred: familiarity with ARINC-653 IMA-based operating systems.
• Preferred: experience with Flight Management Computer systems and avionics test software environments.
• Preferred: knowledge of Lean, digital engineering, model-based development, advanced analytics, or AI/ML-enabled engineering tools.
• Preferred: understanding of artificial intelligence applications within engineering workflows.
