Senior Embedded Engineer – Zephyr, Yocto

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Design a multi-sensor perception and fusion system for a drone early-warning solution utilizing a learning map architecture.

• Take ownership of the architecture throughout the complete technology stack of the devices.

• Foster agreement among the hardware, platform, and AI teams regarding architectural choices.

• Integrate software across a diverse array of hardware devices using Yocto, Bash, Zephyr, and C/C++.

• Collaborate with sensor fusion, MLOps, and DevOps engineers to facilitate rapid and secure deployments.

• Oversee systems, resolve incidents, and consistently enhance observability.

• Optional: Assist with on-site operations, gather sensor data, and validate technology during controlled field tests.

• Contribute as part of a 35-member team consisting of sensor, IoT, and hardware engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must hold citizenship of an EU member state.

• Official residency registration in an EU country is required.

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in IT.

• At least 4 years of full-time professional experience as an Embedded Engineer.

• Strong proficiency in Embedded Linux and Yocto.

• A minimum of 2 years of full-time professional experience with a production-grade real-time operating system, especially Zephyr.

• At least 2 years of professional experience in IoT.

• Proficiency in C/C++ is essential.

• Knowledge of additional languages such as Go, TypeScript, Python, or Rust is advantageous.

• A minimum of 2 consecutive years working for the same employer.

• Fluent in English; any additional spoken language is beneficial.

• Willingness to work in the defense sector.

• Committed to an operational, hands-on role—avoiding management responsibilities—for the next 3–5 years.

• Ideally, experience with fleet data, Bash, Golang, MLOps, Edge ML, and DevOps.

• Ideally, initial experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.

• Ideally, willing to travel to Berlin for field trials 2–3 days each month.

• Knowledge of relevant embedded systems, robotics, sensor fusion, hardware-software integration, networking, AI, firmware, microcontrollers, RTOS, toolchains, and testing technologies.
