This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Design, implement, and validate embedded software for both custom and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware systems.
• Create Board Support Packages (BSPs) tailored for embedded hardware platforms.
• Develop, implement, and test software drivers for peripheral devices.
• Write hardware test code and assist in hardware bring-up, integration, and validation processes.
• Develop and maintain embedded software in accordance with DO-178C standards.
• Participate in software development efforts for projects aimed at achieving DAL A certification.
• Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to embedded software and hardware.
• Prepare documentation related to software design and technical plans.
• Assist in technical planning, effort estimation, and determining necessary technical skills.
• Collaborate effectively with embedded software engineers, project managers, customer engineers, and other stakeholders.
• Convey technical information clearly to engineering teams and customers.
• Offer technical mentoring and share knowledge with junior engineers.
• Support customer projects and, when necessary, work on-site with clients.
• Work autonomously, take ownership of assigned technical tasks, and deliver them punctually.
• Over 7 years of experience in software development, with a minimum of 5 years focused on DO-178C development.
• Extensive experience in embedded software development, particularly with low-level software such as BSPs and device drivers.
• Proficient in C programming.
• Practical experience with VxWorks and/or Linux operating systems.
• Comprehensive understanding of DO-178C, especially regarding DAL A certification, as well as familiarity with associated standards.
• Experience in developing, debugging, and troubleshooting embedded software for both custom and commercial off-the-shelf hardware.
• Familiarity with embedded software development environments like Wind River Workbench or Eclipse.
• Experience in custom embedded hardware bring-up and validation processes.
• Knowledge of processor architectures such as PowerPC, MIPS, x86, or ARM.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to effectively communicate with customers and cross-functional engineering teams.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently.
• Strong decision-making and judgment abilities.
• Willingness to mentor and assist junior engineers.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
