Senior Electrical Estimator / Quantity Surveyor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Develop and deliver electrical cost estimates and quantity take-offs.

• Oversee commercial management for intricate electrical building services and process utility installations.

• Counsel clients on procurement strategies.

• Manage the prequalification of vendors and evaluate proposals, bids, change orders, and bid leveling documents.

• Provide final recommendations to clients.

• Participate in and lead bid interviews while managing the appointment process.

• Assess contractor and subcontractor tenders and formulate commercial recommendations.

• Review, verify, and negotiate variations, change orders, and compensation events.

• Deliver side-by-side cost comparisons.

• Examine change orders and confirm quantities, rates, and scopes in line with industry standards and contract documents.

• Grasp Class 2 estimates and execute Class 3 estimates when necessary.

• Manage, assess, and present estimates for complex change orders.

• Benchmark performance against other successful commissions.

• Support change management in a rapid design and construction environment.

• Utilize Bid Analysis Sheets, Change Control Forms, cost estimating software, and take-off software.

• Offer commercial management assistance for specialized electrical systems.

• Comply with relevant SOX control responsibilities.


⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of applicable experience in a quantity surveying and/or estimating role within the construction sector.

• Strong understanding of construction contracts.

• RICS accreditation or progress towards it is advantageous.

• Experience in supporting cost management on medium to large-scale construction projects.

• Construction consultancy experience is highly preferred.

• Solid knowledge of procurement routes, value management, and value engineering.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Experience with industrial technology, semiconductor, or data center projects is beneficial.

• Familiarity with projects valued at over $500 million; over $2 billion preferred.

• Knowledge of medium/low voltage, campus power distribution, and life safety systems.

• Proficient in MS Suite, Bluebeam, digital cost management tools, and/or estimating software.

• BIM-based quantity extraction is an added advantage.

• Understanding of semiconductor facility infrastructure and construction methodologies is a plus.

• Familiarity with NECA and RS Means is a plus.

• RICS certification is a plus.
