This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Lead the development of comprehensive electrical cost estimates for hyperscale data center initiatives, which encompass medium- and low-voltage distribution, substations, UPS systems, generators, switchgear, busway, grounding, and lighting systems.
• Conduct and supervise detailed electrical quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and BIM models, including components such as conduit, cabling, transformers, generators, and related infrastructure.
• Create, validate, and critically assess labor, material, and equipment pricing models that are consistent with project budgets, delivery strategies, and changing market conditions.
• Establish and uphold historical cost data, benchmarks, and estimating standards to facilitate large-scale programs and future project forecasting.
• Review, analyze, and standardize electrical contractor and subcontractor bids, pinpointing scope gaps, cost risks, and commercial exposure.
• Lead and assist in value engineering and design optioneering efforts, assessing alternative electrical systems, layouts, and installation techniques while adhering to redundancy and reliability requirements.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, procurement, and construction leaders to guide electrical system decisions based on cost, constructability, schedule, and risk.
• Identify and proactively address risks associated with long-lead electrical equipment, supply chain limitations, labor availability, and market escalation.
• Consider regional cost variability across U.S. markets, including factors such as labor rates, logistics constraints, permitting requirements, and utility interface needs.
• Assist in estimating for large-scale power infrastructure, including utility tie-ins, substations, and campus-wide electrical distribution.
• Contribute to the development of standardized data center designs and repeatable delivery models, enhancing cost certainty, scalability, and speed to market.
• Ensure electrical estimates comply with relevant codes, safety standards, sustainability objectives, and energy efficiency requirements.
• Prepare clear and defensible estimating deliverables and present findings to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Engage in cost reviews, procurement discussions, funding approvals, and commercial strategy meetings.
• Assist in change management by evaluating electrical scope alterations and their cost implications throughout the design and construction lifecycle.
• Provide estimating handover documentation to construction teams to ensure consistency between estimates and execution.
• Offer mentorship and technical support to junior estimators while contributing to best practices in estimating.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 7+ years of experience in electrical estimating, with a strong preference for data center, mission-critical, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Advanced technical understanding of power distribution systems, backup generation, UPS systems, electrical codes, and labor productivity.
• Demonstrated experience in estimating high-density and hyperscale electrical systems is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in estimating and takeoff software such as Accubid, ConEst, McCormick, Bluebeam, or similar platforms, with a strong ability to interpret BIM-based information.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, capable of clearly conveying cost drivers, assumptions, and risks.
• Proven ability to work independently while offering leadership within a collaborative, multidisciplinary project environment.
• Health insurance
• Retirement plans
• Paid time off
