Senior Electrical Engineer – Nuclear

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate within a project team to design, modify, and analyze both new and existing electrical systems in nuclear power plants.

• Investigate, diagnose, and resolve electrical engineering challenges.

• Prepare and assess engineering design change packages.

• Conduct and evaluate engineering calculations, including AC/DC power studies, short circuit analysis, cable ampacity, voltage drop assessments, breaker coordination, motor starting, and protective relay settings.

• Draft and review specifications for equipment procurement.

• Participate in the evaluation of bids from equipment vendors.

• Develop and review conceptual design scoping documents and conduct constructability assessments.

• Collaborate with Mechanical, Structural, Civil, and I&C engineering and design disciplines.

• Engage in client interactions and review vendor documentation.

• Attend meetings with clients and conduct site field walkdowns.

• Travel to client and vendor locations as well as plant sites for design reviews, construction coordination, and field validation.

• Assist with site installation activities during project execution.

• Support the project manager in ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget.

• Define project scope and deliverables, monitor team progress, submit status reports, resolve outstanding issues, and coordinate project deliverables.

⛳️ Requirements

• A degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

• A minimum of five years of experience in designing electrical engineering systems for industrial applications, particularly within existing nuclear power plants.

• Proficiency in selecting equipment and materials, as well as preparing engineering design change packages, calculations, and specifications.

• Knowledge of low- and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems, including transformers, generators, motors, and relays.

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

• A detail-oriented work approach.

• Eligibility for unescorted access to a nuclear power station.

• Authorization to work in the U.S.; the company does not provide sponsorship for employment authorization.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not mandatory.

• Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) preferred but not mandatory.

• Willingness or capability to lead others through the use of data, automation, AI, and contemporary engineering tools.

• Experience with automation oversight using Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel preferred but not mandatory.

• Additional learning in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or Software Engineering is valued but not required.
