This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee engineering assessments and diagnostics for power transformers with capacities ranging from 5 MVA to over 500 MVA.
• Execute and analyze advanced transformer testing methods, including Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA), Power Factor Testing, and Insulation Resistance Testing.
• Create technical reports and repair suggestions based on engineering assessments.
• Perform root cause failure analyses and offer refurbishment recommendations.
• Review and authorize engineering drawings, test plans, and work instructions for compliance with IEEE and NETA standards.
• Travel to client locations across the country to provide engineering oversight and technical support.
• Collaborate with project managers and operations leaders to ensure projects are delivered on time and within the defined scope.
• Guide junior engineers in transformer applications, testing techniques, and reliability engineering.
• Assist with utility interconnection initiatives involving substation transformers, collector substations, and renewable energy facilities.
• Assess transformer protection systems, differential relays, overcurrent protection, and system coordination needs.
• Formulate strategies for transformer replacement and modernization.
• Coordinate engineering efforts with utilities, OEMs, EPC contractors, and commissioning teams.
• Enhance transformer asset performance through advanced diagnostics and condition-based maintenance techniques.
• Ensure adherence to IEEE, NETA, utility standards, and best practices within the transformer industry.
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, particularly focused on power transformers.
• Proficiency in transformer diagnostics, including DGA, Power Factor Testing, Insulation Resistance Testing, and Turns Ratio Testing.
• Practical experience with root cause failure analysis and providing recommendations for transformer refurbishment or replacement.
• Solid understanding of transformer protection systems, differential relays, overcurrent protection, and system coordination.
• Experience in supporting utility interconnection projects, substation transformers, and renewable energy facilities.
• Comprehensive knowledge of IEEE and NETA standards, along with an understanding of NEC requirements.
• Capability to review and approve engineering drawings, test plans, and work instructions.
• Experience in mentoring or supervising junior engineers.
• Willingness to travel to client sites nationwide.
• Preferred: experience with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
• Preferred: background in short circuit analysis, load flow studies, and substation engineering.
• Preferred: experience in coordinating with OEMs, EPC contractors, and commissioning teams.
• Preferred: familiarity with On-Load Tap Changers (OLTC), bushings, and insulation systems.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
