
Senior Electrical Cost Estimator – Data Center Construction

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Lead comprehensive electrical cost estimates for hyperscale data center initiatives.
• Supervise electrical quantity takeoffs derived from drawings, specifications, and BIM models.
• Create, validate, and critically assess labor, material, and equipment pricing models.
• Preserve historical cost data, benchmarks, and estimating standards.
• Review and standardize bids from electrical contractors and subcontractors.
• Drive value engineering and design optioneering initiatives.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction leaders on cost, constructability, schedule, and risk factors.
• Manage risks associated with long-lead equipment, supply chain issues, labor availability, and market volatility.
• Consider regional cost variations across U.S. markets.
• Assist in estimating for utility tie-ins, substations, and campus-wide electrical distribution.
• Contribute to the development of standardized data center designs and replicable delivery models.
• Ensure estimates comply with codes, safety standards, sustainability, and energy-efficiency requirements.
• Prepare estimating documents and present outcomes to stakeholders.
• Engage in cost reviews, procurement discussions, funding approvals, and commercial strategy meetings.
• Evaluate electrical scope modifications and their cost implications throughout design and construction phases.
• Supply estimating handover materials to construction teams.
• Mentor junior estimators and help enhance estimating best practices.
• Comply with relevant SOX control responsibilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 7+ years of experience in electrical estimating.
• Preferred experience in data center, mission-critical, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Canadian data center experience is a plus.
• Advanced technical understanding of power distribution systems, backup generation, UPS systems, electrical codes, and labor productivity.
• Experience in estimating high-density and hyperscale electrical systems is highly desirable.
• Proficient with Accubid, ConEst, McCormick, Bluebeam, or similar estimating and takeoff software.
• Strong familiarity with interpreting BIM-based information.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Capable of clearly articulating cost drivers, assumptions, and risks.
• Ability to work independently and lead in a collaborative, multidisciplinary project environment.
• Must be physically located in the United States.
