This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Lead global tax provisioning, financial statement reporting, and forecasting operations for Capital One, including its acquisitions and divestitures.
• Provide strategic advice to the Chief Tax Officer and senior finance leadership regarding effective tax rates and capital planning.
• Collaborate on assessing tax implications of corporate acquisitions and forecasting tax credit capacities.
• Oversee the preparation, review, and finalization of the global corporate income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740 for quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Supervise tax-related disclosures in SEC filings, including 10-K and 10-Q submissions.
• Manage the consolidated effective tax rate along with global deferred tax assets and liabilities.
• Direct tax forecasting efforts to equip executive leadership with projections for effective tax rates (ETR), deferred tax assets (DTA), and credit capacities.
• Lead tax workstreams for corporate stress testing and capital adequacy assessments, including Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR).
• Mentor and manage a team of four tax professionals.
• Collaborate with Tax Planning on the tax accounting and reporting implications of acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures.
• Ensure internal controls over income tax financial reporting are maintained in compliance with SOX and company policy.
• A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent military experience.
• Active or previously obtained Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive corporate tax experience in a public corporation or accounting firm.
• At least 5 years of experience in a dedicated management role overseeing teams.
• Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree in Taxation, MBA, JD, or LLM.
• Proficiency in ASC 740.
• Extensive knowledge of accounting for income taxes in accordance with US GAAP and SEC reporting regulations.
• Familiarity with IFRS is an advantage.
• Exceptional quantitative skills for complex tax modeling and multi-year corporate projections.
• Strong expertise in M&A tax accounting, business combinations, purchase price allocations, and post-merger integration.
• Familiarity with enterprise tax provisioning software, such as Corptax and ONESOURCE.
• Knowledge of data tools like Alteryx and Power BI.
• Proven track record with CCAR processes, capital planning, and navigating highly regulated corporate financial environments.
