Senior Director, Software Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +43 more states.

📋 Description

• Lead teams tasked with delivering technology solutions that fulfill business requirements while adhering to Tech organization risk and operational standards.

• Identify and address intricate technical, operational, risk management, and organizational challenges across a line of business or multiple sub-lines.

• Utilize emerging technologies and automation to enhance business efficiency, accelerate market readiness, and drive business and enterprise transformation.

• Recruit, manage, mentor, and conduct performance evaluations for team members.

• Act as an Agile advocate and ensure the delivery of high-quality operational software.

• Automate repetitive tasks and implement engineering practices to yield business value.

• Supervise software engineering and unit testing, and facilitate integration and functional testing.

• Manage warranty support and facilitate knowledge transfer to production support teams.

• Ensure that code aligns with the acceptance criteria established by the Product Owner.

• Direct the engineering and deployment of major delivery projects while adhering to technical specifications, timelines, and budgets.

• Oversee the planning, design, engineering, testing, and deployment of application projects using either Waterfall or Agile methodologies.

• Formulate departmental business, financial, production, and organizational plans that align with IT, long-term operations, and business goals.

• Mentor and guide team members by applying systems engineering and administration expertise.

• Support project funding for products, services, and technologies.

• Take ownership of first-line risk defense, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies.

• Collaborate with second-line risk management, auditors, and regulatory bodies.

• Serve as the lead or technical consultant for large-scale or complex projects and initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.

• Eight years of experience in IT software engineering, with five years in relevant business roles, five years in project management, and at least two years in a management capacity within this combination.

• Extensive knowledge of technology trends, competitive landscapes, regulatory requirements, and IT strategies.

• Ability to convert enterprise-level strategic planning insights into software and data management necessities while creating business plans.

• Exceptional communication, negotiation, facilitation, and presentation skills at the executive level.

• Experience in negotiating with vendors for relevant products and services.

• Capability to resolve unique and highly complex technical, operational, and organizational issues.

• Ability to lead and manage multiple teams towards achieving financial and operational goals.

• Experience in overseeing enterprise-wide projects from inception to implementation.

• Familiarity with various software engineering methodologies.

• Comprehensive understanding of Agile methodologies.

• Experience in leading teams within an Agile framework, especially those engaged in DevSecOps or transitioning from Waterfall to Agile.

• Prior experience in banking or financial services is preferred.

• Successful completion of background screening is required.
