Senior Director, Revenue Accounting – Commercial Finance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead and cultivate a small team focused on Revenue Accounting & Commercial Finance.

• Collaborate with the Accounting team to ensure precise, timely, and well-regulated revenue month-end-close processes.

• Analyze and implement ASC 606 revenue-recognition standards while documenting accounting conclusions, estimates, and controls.

• Oversee public-company reporting, external audit procedures, and internal control requirements pertaining to revenue accounting and revenue closure processes.

• Take ownership of or spearhead the development, maintenance, and review of revenue accrual-rate estimates and associated models.

• Collaborate with Revenue Cycle and Market Access on payer, reimbursement, policy, billing, collections, and operational initiatives impacting revenue.

• Partner with Enterprise Analytics to enhance data models, reporting infrastructure, reconciliations, and analytical tools.

• Evaluate large and intricate datasets, revenue trends, performance estimates, emerging risks, and variances.

• Assess payer behavior, coverage, policy alterations, prior authorizations, denials, underpayments, claims operations, billing, and collections performance.

• Create reporting and review mechanisms that link operational, billing, collections, and financial data; identify and address significant variances.

• Drive annual operating planning, long-range planning, forecasting, scenario analysis, and variance analysis.

• Lead commercial finance functions, including financial modeling, business-case formulation, commercial initiative assessment, and revenue-driver analysis.

• Prepare succinct, decision-focused executive presentations.

• Manage multiple priorities and adapt to evolving ad hoc business demands while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and analytical rigor.

⛳️ Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in revenue accounting, commercial finance, strategic finance, FP&A, public accounting, or a similar finance role within a public company or a similarly demanding financial-reporting environment.

• Strong proficiency in interpreting and applying ASC 606 revenue-recognition standards, including technical accounting analysis, accounting conclusions, revenue estimates, and control considerations.

• Experience in a public company setting, encompassing financial close, external audit support, internal controls, financial reporting, and executive communications.

• Proven experience leading, developing, or mentoring a small finance or accounting team.

• Ability to collaborate with Revenue Cycle, Market Access, Commercial, Accounting, FP&A, and executive leaders.

• Experience in evaluating reimbursement, payer, policy, and operational developments that affect revenue realization, accrual estimates, and financial performance.

• Strong skills in financial modeling and business-case development.

• Advanced analytical skills with large, complex datasets.

• Experience working with analytics or data teams to design or enhance data models, reporting infrastructure, dashboards, reconciliations, and financial-close processes.

• Exceptional executive communication skills and experience creating decision-oriented presentations for senior leadership.

• Experience in healthcare, diagnostics, laboratory testing, life sciences, reimbursement, or another complex revenue environment is strongly preferred.

• A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, or a related field is required.

• CPA, MBA, or relevant advanced degree is preferred.

• Reliable high-speed internet access and the ability to work from a home office or suitable remote location.

• Effective communication skills via phone and video calls.
