Senior Director, Radar Technical Program Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee multidisciplinary radar, hardware, manufacturing, deployment, and operational-readiness programs from initiation to completion.

• Convert product requirements, technical goals, customer obligations, and operational necessities into comprehensive program definitions that include clear scope, success criteria, milestones, interfaces, dependencies, and decision points.

• Drive execution amidst uncertainty, changing requirements, incomplete information, and tight schedules while remaining accountable for program results.

• Coordinate efforts across Radar Systems, Hardware Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Global Infrastructure, Radar Operations, Product Management, and customer-facing Program Management.

• Own the consolidated technical program baseline and cross-functional commitments regarding scope, schedule, cost, readiness, and risk management.

• Implement change control processes, facilitate escalations and recovery efforts, and ensure that decisions are made by the appropriate functional authorities.

• Develop schedules that reflect engineering maturity, critical paths, long-lead materials, supplier and site dependencies, resource contention, and schedule risks.

• Lead technical and deployment readiness evaluations throughout the product lifecycle.

• Set review entry and exit criteria that encompass technical and deployment maturity, test evidence, configuration status, documentation, and residual risks.

• Manage technical risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, changes, and decisions; conduct root-cause analysis and recovery planning.

• Maintain traceability from contractual milestones and customer acceptance criteria to technical baselines, verification requirements, evidence, and delivery plans.

• Oversee the transition of radar and hardware products from engineering development to repeatable production.

• Integrate design release, materials, DfX, tooling, test equipment, calibration, quality, labor, capacity, yield, and cost targets into production plans.

• Collaborate with Supply Chain on supplier capabilities, lead times, material availability, obsolescence, and readiness of alternative sources.

• Facilitate technical resolution of issues during prototype, pilot, and production builds.

• Integrate site development, regulatory dependencies, logistics, installation, system integration, acceptance testing, and operational readiness into deployment timelines.

• Define handoff criteria for Radar Operations and Maintenance teams and establish feedback mechanisms for sustaining-engineering priorities.

• Provide forward-looking program reviews to the Senior Vice President and extended leadership team.

• Present the technical, schedule, cost, and operational implications of significant decisions and identify necessary leadership support.

• Maintain a portfolio-level perspective on milestones, dependencies, risks, and capacity limitations.

• Collaborate with business operations and FP&A to link scope and schedule changes to budget, cost, and margin impacts.

• Ensure that external commitments are supported by credible technical execution plans.

• Build and lead a scalable technical program management function.

• Initially spearhead high-priority initiatives and build a small team of technically proficient program leaders as the portfolio expands.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, computer science, or a related technical field, or equivalent technical experience.

• A minimum of 12 years of experience in engineering, systems engineering, technical program management, hardware program leadership, or a related discipline.

• Proven track record of leading multidisciplinary systems from concept through development, prototype builds, verification, production readiness, integration, deployment, and operational use.

• Experience with complex electronic, RF, or electromechanical systems in aerospace, defense, space, telecommunications, or other hardware-intensive environments.

• Strong grasp of requirements, interfaces, architecture, verification, validation, configuration, and technical risk management.

• Experience in integrating hardware, software, manufacturing, supply chain, testing, infrastructure, and operational workstreams.

• Proven ability to create integrated engineering plans and manage milestones, critical paths, assumptions, resource constraints, and recovery strategies.

• Capacity to challenge technical assumptions and influence senior engineering leaders.

• Excellent written, verbal, and executive-level communication skills.

• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. personnel security clearance and comply with applicable U.S. export-control regulations.

• Experience managing international infrastructure, permitting, spectrum, regulatory, or site-acceptance dependencies.

• Familiarity with requirements management, PLM, ERP, scheduling, and engineering work management systems.

• Experience in leading, mentoring, and developing technical program managers or other cross-functional program leaders, with the capability to establish scalable program-management practices.

• Eligibility to obtain the necessary U.S. Department of State ITAR authorizations.
