Senior Director, Operations, Radiology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Lead and oversee the entire specialty operations team.

• Take ownership of daily operational performance across all radiology locations, ensuring accountability for wRVUs, turnaround times, and quality standards.

• Create and implement operational playbooks at the site level for new site launches, stabilization phases, and closures.

• Establish the strategic vision, goals, policies, and procedures for the department while ensuring regulatory compliance.

• Recognize opportunities for operational efficiencies and develop a leading-specialty approach.

• Introduce programs and services aimed at enhancing specialty operations and site performance.

• Monitor productivity targets for radiologists and wRVU benchmarks by modality and location.

• Supervise turnaround-time performance for STAT, routine, and after-hours readings.

• Track and report on read volumes, modality distributions, and coverage ratios.

• Manage timelines for credentialing and privileging compliance for radiologists.

• Oversee communication of critical findings, participation in peer reviews, staffing ratios, and coverage gaps.

• Monitor equipment uptime and escalate any downtime issues.

• Define the strategic direction for PACS, RIS, teleradiology, HL7/PACS routing, and data integration platforms.

• Advocate for technology initiatives and collaborate with IT on roadmaps, vendor partnerships, and implementation strategies.

• Build a reporting infrastructure and analytics capabilities to assess performance and guide decision-making.

• Promote the adoption and implementation of AI tools.

• Manage the specialty profit and loss statement and operational budget, including site financials, vendor expenses, and stipend management.

• Collaborate with billing and coding teams on charge capture, denials, and collections.

• Oversee vendor and technology relationships.

• Identify cost inefficiencies and address financial and operational risks.

• Lead the integration of new sites into the Vituity operating model.

• Work together on proformas, proposals, contracts, compliance, analytics, clinical leadership, and new site launches.

• Provide oversight on performance, professional development, mentoring, and coaching.

• Collaborate with recruiting leadership to maintain a pipeline of operations talent.

• Promote accountability, continuous improvement, and teamwork across a geographically dispersed team.

• Lead and evaluate team efforts to deliver initiatives and operational plans on time and within budget.

• Offer performance feedback and contribute to decisions regarding hiring, termination, promotions, performance evaluations, and rewards.

• Represent operations in leadership discussions and collaborate with the executive team on strategic initiatives.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Management, Public Health, and 10 years of progressive operations management experience is required OR a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the acquisition of the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities is required.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in radiology specialty healthcare is required.

• A Master’s degree in Business, Healthcare Management, Public Health, or a related field is preferred.

• Experience in healthcare, physician specialty management, and/or multi-location operations is preferred.

• Experience in a hospital setting is preferred.

• Strong understanding of healthcare management, ideally encompassing both hospital management experience and physician specialty management.

• Knowledge of physicians' clinical, management, and leadership roles within the healthcare environment.

• Familiarity with payer contracting and its effects on physician specialties.

• Understanding of revenue cycle management and payer contracting.

• Awareness of clinical specialties, performance metrics, and medical-legal considerations that affect the specialty.

• Excellent analytical skills, creative thinking, collaborative management abilities, and strong interpersonal skills.

• Capability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

• Proficient in computer systems, including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).

• Ability to collaborate with physician partners and develop effective site service teams.

• Ability to inspire and develop others.

• Capacity to stay organized while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Effective and persuasive communication skills at all levels.

• Certification.

• Knowledge of systems.
