Senior Director of Project Management

📋 Description

• Assume complete responsibility for significant venue projects from inception to completion.

• Direct the planning, design collaboration, and construction implementation.

• Make informed decisions regarding project scope, phasing, budget, and timelines.

• Manage scope definition, phasing strategies, and delivery methods across multiple projects simultaneously.

• Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget while navigating operational, seasonal, and financial limitations.

• Provide unified leadership and accountability for venue development, construction, and renovation initiatives on the West Coast.

• Develop and maintain consistent delivery standards, governance, processes, and reporting across the region.

• Act as the primary escalation point for complex, high-risk, or high-visibility projects.

• Provide project and portfolio-level updates regarding schedule, costs, risks, and delivery status to senior management.

• Highlight critical issues and assist in executive decision-making with actionable insights.

• Establish KPIs, reporting frequency, and decision-making authority.

• Manage project budgets and forecasts for both individual projects and the West Coast portfolio.

• Review and deliver consolidated cost reports, financial performance, and risk assessments to senior management.

• Manage project schedules and oversee regional timelines and resource allocation strategies.

• Lead recovery efforts and resolve scheduling conflicts.

• Mentor and guide Project Managers and senior project personnel throughout the West Coast.

• Promote collaboration among design, construction, operations, and executive teams.

• Supervise consultants, contractors, and vendor relationships, including the procurement of major project packages.

• Assist with contract strategy, negotiations, and performance management.

• Support pre-development lease negotiations by providing insights on constructability, costs, schedules, and risks.

• Implement risk management processes at both the project and portfolio levels.

• Maintain high standards for quality and safety.

• Ensure adherence to building codes, permitting, entitlement requirements, safety protocols, and company policies across various jurisdictions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.

• Over 10 years of progressive experience in delivering construction and development projects.

• At least 5 years of experience leading large-scale projects.

• Experience in entertainment, live venues, or hospitality is highly desirable.

• Proven history of successfully delivering major construction or venue projects within budget and on schedule.

• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams of Project Managers and cross-functional project staff.

• Executive-level experience managing budgets and forecasts, as well as presenting consolidated cost, performance, and risk reports to senior leadership.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, and Procore.

• Strong knowledge of contract strategies, negotiations, procurement, and vendor performance management.

• Familiarity with building codes, permitting, entitlements, and safety regulations across multiple jurisdictions.

• Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management abilities.

• Capability to manage multiple concurrent projects effectively.

• Willingness to travel frequently to venues and project locations throughout the West Coast.

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is a plus.
