This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and implement strategies while advising senior leadership and the business on litigation, policy engagement, and advocacy concerning laws, regulations, and trends influencing the pharmaceutical sector.
• Identify and evaluate potential new affirmative litigation and advocacy opportunities to promote Lilly’s policy goals.
• Provide litigation counsel to Government Affairs, Communications, Regulatory Affairs, and Lilly Value and Access on legal policy and strategic priorities.
• Draft and review communications, comment letters, and related documents.
• Oversee litigation, government investigations, and other disputes from strategy formulation through resolution.
• Lead and manage external counsel, including the development and oversight of reasonable budgets.
• Coordinate internal initiatives to achieve results within litigation budgets.
• Engage with government entities, state attorneys general, trade associations, industry stakeholders, and external policy and counsel networks.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships across Lilly’s legal and business divisions.
• Monitor and assess litigation, enforcement, and policy developments impacting drug pricing, access, and reimbursement.
• Report to the Associate Vice President, Assistant General Counsel – Litigation, Legal Policy & Strategy.
• Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor (J.D.).
• Active license to practice law.
• Clerkship at a federal court of appeals.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience as a practicing attorney.
• Experience in managing complex litigation and formulating and executing strategy at a global corporation and/or top law firm.
• Proven success in complex litigation at both trial and appellate levels.
• Experience in handling matters through discovery, dispositive motions, and trial.
• Experience in briefing and arguing appeals.
• Experience in litigating constitutional claims, statutory and regulatory challenges, and Administrative Procedure Act (APA) matters.
• Demonstrated experience in engaging on complex policy issues.
• Ability to quickly master complex new subject matter and exercise sound judgment.
• Strong client-service orientation and executive presence.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively at all organizational levels.
• Must be authorized to work full-time in the United States.
• Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization or visas for this position.
• Preferred: Experience litigating class actions, cases involving state and federal healthcare programs, and fraud and abuse laws.
• Preferred: Experience managing litigation within the pharmaceutical sector or another highly regulated field.
• Enthusiasm for leveraging artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to enhance litigation and practice efficiency.
• Proven leadership and effectiveness in collaborating with senior leadership.
• Good judgment and meticulous attention to detail.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities with the capacity to influence others.
