Senior Counsel, Employment, Product

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Review and revise employment policies.

• Provide guidance on reasonable accommodations, compliance, performance management, terminations, recruitment, hiring, compensation, and benefits.

• Oversee the management and updating of offer letters, employment agreements, separation agreements, and employee handbooks.

• Conduct employment diligence during mergers and acquisitions (M&A).

• Collaborate with HR Business Partners to address employee-related issues and manage internal investigations.

• Handle employment law claims and arbitration matters, including litigation and discovery processes.

• Educate internal clients and stakeholders about legal developments while proactively mitigating risks.

• Identify and evaluate employment-related legal risks and opportunities.

• Support product and marketing teams across various initiatives.

• Review, draft, and negotiate revenue and vendor agreements.

• Advise internal partners regarding contracts and agreements.

• Address legal inquiries from product, business development, data privacy, finance, marketing, senior leadership, and other clients.

• Articulate legal concepts in a pragmatic, clear, and concise manner.

• Establish processes to ensure compliance with product-related regulations.

• Enhance legal department processes, forms, and overall operations.

• Assist with M&A transactions and the onboarding of integrated teams.

• Negotiate vendor and referral agreements.

• Work in partnership with team leads to assess new product ideas and review marketing copy.

• Report directly to the Deputy General Counsel.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of relevant experience, combining both in-house and law firm practice at a major law firm.

• At least 3 years of experience as Employment Counsel and another 3 years as Product Counsel, or 3 years as Corporate Counsel.

• Extensive knowledge of California and/or New York employment laws, as well as relevant federal regulations.

• Membership in at least one state bar, preferably in California or New York.

• Strong and practical judgment, personal integrity, and discretion concerning confidential matters.

• Ability to quickly evaluate risk and provide sound guidance.

• Excellent written and oral communication abilities.

• Capability to simplify complex topics in a clear and concise manner.

• Self-motivated, proactive, driven, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

• Experience advising on truth-in-advertising, UDAP, UDAAP, and other consumer protection laws.

• Proficient in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, master service agreements, licensing agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.

• Knowledge of privacy regulations such as CCPA, GDPR, and GLBA.

• Familiarity with Ironclad, Blee, or LawVu is a plus.

• Experience in a financial services regulatory environment is an advantage.

• Must reside in the U.S.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
