This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +6 more states.
• Define and take ownership of the Wiley Research analytics strategy, priorities, roadmap, and ensure alignment with executive strategic goals.
• Provide advanced commercial analysis to identify growth opportunities, retention risks, and areas of underperformance.
• Establish the Research analytics function and actively recruit and develop analytical talent.
• Lead competitive intelligence and market analysis utilizing external data, industry trends, and internal commercial performance metrics.
• Convert complex analytical findings into clear narratives for executives and board-level stakeholders.
• Evolve and standardize the Research KPI framework.
• Create and maintain executive dashboards and performance reports across various regions, teams, products, and customer segments.
• Provide scenario modeling, competitive benchmarking, and quantitative analysis to support commercial strategy.
• Promote the adoption of data-driven commercial decision-making throughout the Research sector.
• Ensure globally consistent definitions, metrics, and performance standards are upheld.
• Oversee commercial data governance, data quality, reporting integrity, and establish a reliable commercial single source of truth.
• Identify fragmented or duplicated data sources and implement data ownership standards.
• Collaborate with Business Analytics & Operations, Enablement, Technology & Operations, and Finance on data infrastructure, revenue reporting, forecasting, and performance measurement.
• Enhance reporting workflow efficiency, automation, and self-service reporting capabilities.
• Work together with Publishing, Marketing, Sales, Product, and Strategy teams to derive cross-functional commercial insights.
• Provide guidance to Research and Executive Leadership regarding commercial trends, strategic opportunities, and operational risks.
• Forge partnerships with data-generating teams to access and validate isolated data.
• Represent analytics in Research leadership forums.
• Mentor and cultivate analytical talent while building a community of practice.
• 12+ years of progressive experience in commercial analytics, business analytics, strategy, or business intelligence.
• Proven track record of establishing decision-support functions and influencing senior commercial leadership.
• Experience in leading or developing a commercial analytics function.
• Proficiency in setting up KPI frameworks and creating executive dashboards.
• Experience in building or significantly enhancing an analytics function within a complex organizational structure.
• Extensive expertise in commercial performance measurement, KPI design, and competitive intelligence.
• Experience in translating analytical outputs into actionable insights for executive decision-making.
• Experience collaborating with Finance on revenue reporting and forecasting methodologies.
• Skills in financial modeling, revenue analysis, and business scenario planning.
• Experience managing distributed data ownership and driving data governance initiatives without formal authority.
• Exceptional communication skills and a strong executive presence.
• Ability to produce board-quality commercial insights and tailor analytical narratives for senior audiences.
• Ability to influence and align senior stakeholders across various functions without direct authority.
• Proficiency with analytics and reporting tools such as Salesforce, Gainsight, BigQuery, Power BI, or similar.
• High tolerance for ambiguity and a proactive approach to action.
• Experience working across multiple geographies and time zones within a global enterprise.
• Preferred: experience in scholarly or academic publishing, information services, media, or technology undergoing digital transformation.
• Preferred: knowledge of open access, society publishing models, or research information ecosystems.
• Preferred: experience with AI-augmented analytics tools.
• Preferred: experience establishing an analytics function without prior data infrastructure.
