This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
β’ Lead and nurture the decision scientists and data scientists within the team, establishing high standards for both fields.
β’ Take ownership of the MAU driver model and its forecasting.
β’ Oversee exploratory initiatives that inform strategies for MAU growth.
β’ Define the processes for scoping, executing, reviewing, and documenting analyses.
β’ Collaborate with leadership from Revenue Analytics and Data Engineering to establish common metrics, standardize experimentation practices, and implement cohesive operating procedures.
β’ Develop an operating model that integrates the team into roadmap discussions early, influencing development and testing priorities.
β’ Utilize agents and automated analyses on a daily basis, setting the same expectation for the team.
β’ Shape the teamβs approach to AI-native practices, determining the delegation to agents, automation, or human oversight.
β’ Report directly to the Head of Data.
β’ Collaborate closely with counterparts in Revenue Analytics and Data Science, as well as leaders in Data Engineering.
β’ Direct decision science and data science efforts related to MAU across acquisition, activation, engagement, and retention.
β’ A minimum of 10 years of experience in analytics, data science, or decision science, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role involving people management.
β’ Extensive expertise in inferential and causal analytics.
β’ Capability to lead machine learning practitioners.
β’ In-depth knowledge of engagement, retention, churn, and cohort metrics.
β’ Proven experience in forecasting a company-level metric and being accountable for it.
β’ Proficiency in SQL, along with Python or R.
β’ Familiarity with Databricks.
β’ Experience using third-party experimentation tools (e.g., Statsig).
β’ Proficient in Tableau or similar BI tools.
β’ Experience with AI-native BI tools (e.g., Hex, AI/BI).
β’ Hands-on experience coding agents (Claude Code or equivalents) in analytical work.
β’ A Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
β’ Understanding of experiment design to identify and manage network effects.
β’ A Master's degree or PhD focused on social science, psychology, or another behavioral science.
β’ Experience in leading a team that reports to you but is embedded within product and engineering teams.
β’ Experience in a B2C subscription business environment.
β’ Proven success in transforming an analytics team from a reactive to an embedded model.
β’ Strong coaching skills, with a track record of developing analysts into leaders.
β’ On your teams, analysis is initiated from hypotheses rather than mere data requests.
β’ You have established the standards for team operations and successfully encouraged adherence to them.
β’ A curiosity about the reasons behind people's behaviors, not just their actions.
β’ You can determine and justify what the team will not focus on.
