Senior Data Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop statistical and machine learning models for sales forecasting across various business sectors

• Contribute to the development of self-service analytics and data tools

• Manage the complete machine learning lifecycle, encompassing scoping, feature engineering, model training and evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and explainability

• Convert model outputs into actionable insights for business leaders

• Determine which factors influence the sales forecast and their impact

• Guide junior data scientists

• Facilitate technical design reviews and educational sessions

• Assist in defining the team's roadmap and standards

• Collaborate within a scrum team alongside Analytics Engineers and Data Analysts

• Deliver data products from start to finish

• Engage in decision-making across the data stack, including source-data modeling and solutions for the sales team

• Report directly to the Data Science Manager

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in a data science position, with at least 3 years concentrated on sales forecasting, demand forecasting, or revenue analytics

• A graduate degree in a scientific or other quantitative discipline may account for 2 of the 5 years

• Advanced proficiency in Python or R for data analysis tasks

• In-depth knowledge of time series forecasting techniques, such as ARIMA, Prophet, and LSTM

• Proficient in SQL for data analysis purposes

• Skilled in training and assessing machine learning models with PyTorch, scikit-learn, tidymodels, and XGBoost

• Proven experience in developing and executing machine learning pipelines in production settings like AWS SageMaker, Databricks, or Snowflake

• Demonstrated understanding of software development principles and practices, including version control and testing

• Strong communication skills in both written and verbal formats, particularly with non-technical stakeholders

• Experience in leading self-directed projects and collaborating across teams

• Background in mentoring fellow data scientists or leading technical discussions

• Experience in education or edtech is preferred

• Familiarity with Snowflake is preferred

• Knowledge of container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes is preferred
