This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +1 more state.
• Establish and propel the strategic vision and roadmap for AI, Generative AI, data science capabilities, solutions, use cases, and interconnected AI initiatives throughout R&D.
• Counsel senior R&D leadership regarding opportunities and risks associated with AI, data technologies, and Generative AI.
• Direct the design, development, and pre-deployment of adaptable and scalable AI solutions for intricate R&D data and applications.
• Manage AI and Generative AI use cases from conception to production deployment and application lifecycle oversight.
• Lead data processing, representations, and AI solutions for clinical trials, patient recruitment, content creation, asset management, pharmacovigilance, quality control, regulatory compliance, real-world data, sensor and medical device data, and omics data.
• Advocate for best practices in AI solutions, review solution architectures, and supervise data and AI observability, governance, monitoring, and lifecycle practices.
• Design and expand AI/ML practices from experimentation and deployment to monitoring and retraining.
• Offer technical and engineering support for data and information governance, quality assurance, and FAIR data principles.
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of data scientists, AI/ML scientists, and lifecycle support personnel.
• Oversee team budgets, resource allocation, project timelines, vendor relationships, and the data and AI Solutions portfolio.
• Ensure that initiatives adhere to governance standards, data privacy regulations, GxP, HIPAA, and responsible AI principles.
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, IT, the Data and AI Platform, Data Engineering, R&D, scientific teams, operations, and external partners.
• Convert scientific challenges into actionable data and AI projects and relay strategy, progress, and outcomes to technical and executive stakeholders.
• Over 12 years of progressive leadership experience in data science, AI/ML, and Generative AI.
• A minimum of 5 years in senior technical leadership or management positions.
• Strong experience in team management and development.
• Proven experience in architecting, building, and maintaining large-scale data and AI solutions in scientific, regulated, or research-intensive environments.
• Significant experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences industry, particularly within R&D, is highly desirable.
• Profound understanding of AI and machine learning applications in pharmaceutical contexts.
• Demonstrated experience in implementing and deploying Generative AI and LLM applications in production settings.
• Expertise in real-world data assets and their use to generate scientific evidence and enhance operational effectiveness.
• Extensive knowledge in data science, data representation, Generative AI, AI, and machine learning techniques.
• Experience in architecting and delivering AI/ML use cases.
• Exceptional team leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and project management abilities.
• Master’s degree in a mathematical, engineering, or scientific discipline such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Statistics, or a related field, with a focus on advanced and modern data science, including AI and machine learning.
• A PhD is strongly preferred.
