This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of digital forensic investigations from the initial intake to final resolution.
• Acquire, preserve, process, and analyze digital evidence using established forensic techniques.
• Perform examinations of Windows systems, storage devices, cloud data, email, and other pertinent sources.
• Investigate cases involving insider threats, employee data theft, trade-secret theft, unauthorized access, intellectual property disputes, fraud, workplace misconduct, and litigation issues.
• Identify, interpret, and correlate artifacts from operating systems, file activities, external storage usage, cloud synchronization, browser activities, email interactions, application usage, and other forms of evidence.
• Create defensible timelines using various forensic data sources.
• Assess the meaning, reliability, and limitations of forensic artifacts.
• Maintain comprehensive case notes, examination records, chain-of-custody documentation, and supporting exhibits.
• Draft clear, accurate, and technically sound forensic reports.
• Articulate technical findings in accessible language for attorneys, executives, clients, and non-technical audiences.
• Engage in client meetings, attorney conferences, presentations of findings, and discussions regarding case strategy.
• Provide support for declarations, affidavits, deposition testimony, hearing testimony, and expert reports as required.
• Differentiate between established facts, reasonable interpretations, and unresolved issues based on available evidence.
• Review the work of junior personnel or evidence technicians as the team grows.
• Contribute to quality control checks of reports, exhibits, timelines, and conclusions.
• Innovate and enhance forensic procedures, workflows, reporting templates, and quality standards.
• Identify potential areas for responsible automation and efficient evidence processing.
• Stay informed about changes in operating systems, applications, cloud platforms, forensic artifacts, and industry practices.
• Safeguard confidential, privileged, personally identifiable, and legally sensitive information.
• Adhere to case deadlines and communicate promptly regarding the scope, evidence volume, or technical risks involved.
• Travel periodically for evidence collection, client meetings, depositions, hearings, or other case-related requirements.
• Minimum of five years of professional experience in conducting digital forensic examinations or closely related investigations.
• Capability to independently manage forensic matters with minimal supervision.
• Strong expertise in Windows forensic artifacts and file-system analysis.
• Experience in examining computers, storage devices, email, cloud data, and user activities.
• Background in investigating various relevant areas, including insider threats, employee data theft, trade-secret or intellectual-property theft, unauthorized access, external storage and USB activity, cloud-storage and file-synchronization activity, email-related activity, file deletion or attempted concealment, workplace misconduct, and civil litigation or employment disputes.
• Solid understanding of forensic acquisition, evidence preservation, hashing, documentation, and chain-of-custody requirements.
• Ability to correlate evidence from diverse sources and construct defensible activity timelines.
• Strong analytical judgment with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent written communication skills, including experience in drafting formal forensic reports.
• Skill in conveying technical findings clearly to non-technical audiences.
• Experience in direct communication with attorneys, executives, clients, or other senior stakeholders.
• Ability to handle multiple investigations, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to travel when case requirements necessitate.
• Capability to pass relevant background screenings and adhere to confidentiality and evidence-handling standards.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Preferred educational background includes a bachelor’s or master’s degree in digital forensics, cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, criminal justice, or a related field.
• One or more recognized forensic certifications are preferred, such as GCFE, GCFA, CFCE, EnCE, CCE, or CCME.
• Experience in digital forensics consultancy, incident response, law-enforcement laboratory work, corporate investigations, litigation support, expert reports, testimony, civil disputes, mobile-device forensics, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, cloud platforms, forensic scripting, automation, mentoring, or peer review is preferred.
