Senior DevSecOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain cloud infrastructure that supports the VA.gov Platform.

• Create reusable infrastructure modules, libraries, and automation tools for various engineering teams.

• Enhance the scalability, resiliency, reliability, and operational efficiency of the platform.

• Contribute to internal platform features that enhance the developer experience.

• Provision and manage cloud infrastructure utilizing Infrastructure as Code methodologies.

• Construct and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines.

• Engage in support rotation during business hours and fulfill production on-call duties.

• Diagnose issues with production infrastructure, Kubernetes clusters, deployment failures, and cloud services.

• Develop infrastructure that meets security, availability, and performance standards.

• Collaborate with security engineers to strengthen the platform’s security posture.

• Provide support for the VA.gov Platform’s Infrastructure Services Team.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency (Required).

• Capacity to obtain and uphold a Public Trust clearance.

• Bachelor’s Degree.

• 7-10 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer.

• Practical production experience with AWS as the main cloud provider.

• Experience in deploying and managing Kubernetes (Amazon EKS or equivalent).

• Strong expertise in Terraform (Terragrunt preferred).

• Experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools.

• Solid Linux systems administration skills and shell scripting experience.

• Fundamental knowledge of networking concepts, including DNS, TLS, load balancing, reverse proxies, and container networking.

• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Experience troubleshooting production infrastructure and distributed systems.

• Involvement in production support and on-call rotations.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams and government stakeholders.
